Centennial High School Reviews
Rating 4.04 out of 5 652 reviews
Centennial High School is a great public school that offers several academically challenging courses. The school has several sports and clubs that are sure to fit a student of any interest. However, there is a lack of funds to support every single club, forcing them to be in the red or constantly do fundraising activities, taking away from the true essence of the club. The teachers at Centennial High School are kind and knowledgeable of their respective subjects and the counselors are quite informative. A major flaw with the counselors and administration is the feeling of alienation from the majority of the student body. Despite several efforts from the administration to encourage bonding, students feel intimidated by the counselors and rarely seek their help. This is detrimental to both the student body and Centennial High School, I hope the administration is able to quickly patch this relationship dynamic in the coming years.
Centennial High School has been my school for the past two and a half years. My brother and sister also went to Centennial before me, graduating in 2022 and 2023, so I have been exposed to its community for quite some time. Centennial has an amazing sense of community; everyone knows each other and is never hesitant to say hello or go out of their way to help you with anything you may need. However, Centennial also has one big problem, our administration caters to bigger clubs, extracurriculars, and sports, so there is hardly ever a chance for the smaller communities to thrive within the environment we are given. I am apart of a small club called Interact and one of the smallest sports at the school, girls golf. I have noticed that our administration tends to favor clubs like National Honor Society and Student Council and sports like football, which makes those organizations extremely successful. This causes a struggle for small clubs and sports to get recognition and appreciation.
Centennial high school is a good school overall, with a history of both academic and athletic accomplishments. Centennial offers the AP Capstone diploma program, and has won many tournaments and championships in most sports programs. However, I've noticed the quality of teachers is going down as newer ones are replacing older ones. The new teachers coming in seem very unprepared and lack the abilities required to teach, such as planning, time management, and the ability to explain concepts in different ways. In the future, I'd like to see new teachers that are well prepared and ready to teach, which I haven't seen in my three completed years so far.
