Is Get Him to The Greek a sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall?

Question

I’ve been on a Jonah Hill movie binge lately and obviously see that it’s in someway a spin-off but I’ve never really been sure if Get Him to The Greek was an actual sequel. It always left me wondering about Jonah Hill’s character from Sarah Marshall and his journey back to he central USA getting a job in the music bizz

It’s a spin-off, technically

Quasi-sequel, I’d say.

It continues Aldous Snow’s story - and he references having sex with Bell’s character from FSM -, but Hill is playing a different character (Matthew in FSM, Aaron in GHTTG).

Get Him to The Greek is a spin-off of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but Jonah Hill doesn't play the same character in both movies. It wouldn't have been that hard or as much of a change to make them the same character but it doesn't really cause too much confusion considering he was a side character in the first movie to begin with.
