It's Easter in the beach house of a Chilean well-to-do and nowadays family. A self-centered and successful father, a disoriented mother and a son overshadowed by his successful father. The three of them, wait for the arrival of the son's first official girlfriend; a disturbing and rebellious young lady who will invade the house with her powerful sexual load and other "gifts", breaking loose an emotional cataclysm with no stepping back.

I can’t believe after all this time I still have 45 more movies in my prime queue it’ll never end. I was looking at my Netflix queue I have like over 100 movies in there. I wanted to purge the last Fandor thing I was aware of wanting to watch though so here it is. As more time goes on I dislike Sebastián Lelio more and more. I was swept up by the hype of a fantastic woman but had slight issues with the representation and as time went on those issues became less slight. I think between a movie about a trans woman, an old woman, and a Jewish lesbian, I really started to lose interest in his voice…

Marco brings his girlfriend home for Easter where she gets a little too close to his dad, also named Marco. His bff is a woman with selective muteness, and his other pal is a gay law student who has brought a new lover home for Easter. Mom drives away after dreaming of rabbits.
This movie is shot like a home video which gives it a feeling of being older than it is and an intimacy that works better in some scenes than others. There are long stretches where very little happens frankly the family is so dull, I can't really see what Sofia, (the girlfriend), sees in either one of them. Of course, she's also dull and pretentious and a bit of a snob so... 🤷♀️
Far and away my least favorite film by this director.
Se nota mucho que se grabo en 3 dias, al parecer esta fue una produccion muy apresurada y bueno, siento que es evidente en varios aspectos de la pelicula, en el como esta editada a como son los dialogos, etc, la verdad es que la primera mitad se siente como una metralleta de informacion, casi ningun dialogo se siente natural y solo esta ahi para contarnos las distintas situaciones de los respectivos personajes, sin duda lo mejor de la pelicula es su protagonista, que si bien no hay una actuacion brillante detras (a lo mucho buena) si logra ser el cuico que nunca salio de la zona de comfort, por una parte muy mamon cosa que lo lleva a tener…
Hand-held camera, improvised dialogue, three day shoot; this is a film that shows its low budget and revels in it, using it to achieve a look that is like watching a home movie. It works well for this film, as it wouldn't for others. The cast all do their work very well, each inhabiting their character believably. Nonetheless, there's a distance between them and the viewer that makes it hard to care about them. The film is sort of raw and real, but also rough and in parts a little poorly finished.
