Waverly Senior High School Reviews
Rating 3.44 out of 5 173 reviews
My overall experience with Waverly Senior High School was good. There was a lot of diversity at my school. There was many things to participate in like school clubs, sports, and extracurriculars. The best part of my experience was taking a personal finance class. I learned many things financially in order to prepare for life after high school. My worst experience was adjusting to school after the pandemic. During the pandemic, school was online. The learning environment was very different compared to in person. Learning in person was easier than learning from a computer screen online. Changes I would like to see at Waverly Senior High School is more advance placement opportunities. Had there been more advance placement classes, I would enroll in more of those classes.
I'm an immigrant who started attending Waverly Community School in 2020. It was very different when I first stepped into the school. Everyone is friendly, they even have a classroom for students who first came into the school with no English and help them blend in with English lessons and activities to boost their confidence. I love it over here at Waverly High School.
not as good as Barans organic synth lab. 0/10
just kidding, time for the real review
The good:
- Very diverse, sense of community
- Staff are helpful
- Variety of Honors and AP Classes
- Good selection of extracurricular activities
- Dual enrollment
The bad:
- More rigorous APs and Post-AP courses not offered due to lack of acceleration from the student body (Calc BC, Physics C, Post-AP classes such as linear alg and OChem)
- Low average SAT score, but is more because of the average Waverly student (will elaborate in the ugly)
- Doesn’t prepare you well for college
- Rampant grade inflation in AP classes
The ugly (student body related things):
- A lot of skipping
- Drug use in bathrooms
- Perpetuated anti-work culture, SAT scores are so low because this gets enabled by admin
- Unsafe environment, students seem to be able to do whatever they want
- Ambiguous grading system, grades on a 0-4 scale rather than letters
- Tests worth too much (80%) .. It’s not university
