Lacking a bit in emotional depth, but a very interesting story about one of the biggest voices of Catalunya ever and one of the greatest cellists of all time. The war angle is not played as often as Pau's love for music, which seems at the same time fitting and not. It feels like there are no stakes involved in his protest, which was very much not the case, as he was exiled from his homeland for 12 years at this point. He was an ardent supporter of republicanism, but it doesn't show at all.
My main issue with Spanish movies like this is, as always, the dubbing. The movie was made in the south of France, so a lot of French actors were involved, and their lines are dubbed in Catalan, which is unfortunate as the dubbing style is very unnatural, so it removes from the experience. I don't understand why they feel the need to do this...
