Blindside after blindside, multiple botched idol plays, one epic meltdown. Season 46 of Survivor has been heating up faster than an ember lighting Kenzie’s hair on fire.
With just three episodes remaining (the three-hour finale event airs Wednesday, May 22 at 8/7c on CBS), there’s still plenty of game left to unfold as Ben, Maria, Charlie, Q, Kenzie, Venus and Liz fight, scratch and claw their way to the million dollars and the title of Sole Survivor.
Speaking with TVLine’s Keisha Hatchett Thursday at CBS’ fall schedule reveal party, host Jeff Probst was beyond enthused to chat about what should be a very electric end to the show’s 46th season.
“The rest of 46 is as good as the last few episodes have been,” he teases. “There was just this momentum happening out there where the gameplay just kept getting more and more intense, and it became harder and harder to tell who was telling the truth. Which means, if you have an idol in your pocket and you don’t know if you should play it, and you look to your friend and say, “Should I play it?” and they say “no,” you’ve got to decide. Are they my ally or are they betraying me? And that’s part of why Survivor is so addictive [because] you sit at home and play along.”
Probst recently announced that Season 50 will feature all-returnees, though he admits they haven’t yet decided on a theme or even the criteria they’ll consider when it comes to picking its players. “You just want 50 to be a celebration,” he says. “We did Winners at War for Survivor 40. I want this to be fun and I’ve been really impressed with a lot of fan ideas, so who knows where that will lead!”
See what else Probst had to say in the video embedded above, then let us know your thoughts on all things Survivor in the comments below.
This season sucks. These people are terrible at this game.
The 90 min shows are too long. They get boring for me. You are going to lose people when it is boring.
39 days … new location … less advantages!
Only a foolish person would walk off with an idol in his or her pocket. Can’t believe Tiffany and Hunter were blindsided. Best survivor players ever are Paschal English and Boston Rob. Our family loves Survivor and watches it together since the beginning.
I watched Survivor from the beginning but dumped it when all the shenanigans going on behind the scenes came out in the press with the coaching and such. It’s not as scripted as wrestling shows but it’s definitely not reality.
I don’t understand why you hold on to an idol??? Especially when everybody knows you have one, this is why y’all get blindsided. Idols are only ever good when nobody knows you have it.
It would be nice to see more older players. These kids are mostly a big bore. Whinning and screaming about “not eating?” Give me a break. Stay home already, why did you bother to come on the show if you’re allergic to everything on the island, then feel entitled to get the burger. What a joke player. Go back to the days where you had strong adult “survivors” playing this game. It’s really gotten boring. Maria is about the only player worth watching. Maybe Kensey.
Jeff comments are rote. He says the EXACT same thing every week. Nothing changes, but maybe in tribal. B.o.r.i.n.g.
Please Jeff I beg you stop with the puzzles already. Too politically correct now. Go back to the first 2 seasons and stop giving everybody a vacation.
