With surprisingly touching earnestness, The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants follows four best friends as they try on adulthood — and though it isn't an easy fit, their journey becomes bearable thanks to the threads they share.

Ellen Futterman St. Louis Post-Dispatch The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a true charmer, a coming-of-age dramedy that treats adolescent girls with respect as it capitalizes on the power of friendship, individualism and life's possibilities. Rated: 3.5/4 Mar 14, 2023 Full Review Philippa Hawker Sydney Morning Herald There are some heavy-handed moments of affirmation in the film, but there is a likeable warmth to it, some strong performances and some grit and spark, particularly in the strand involving Ferrara. Mar 14, 2023 Full Review Ian Johns Times (UK) It’s all mostly warm and fuzzy until the film descends into multiple, tearjerking moments and trite resolutions. The performances are fine but after Mean Girls you may find this too sticky and sweet. Mar 13, 2023 Full Review Elizabeth Barr Buffalo News The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants thinks before it speaks and therefore is endearing and entertaining in a way that's empathetic without being sentimental. Rated: 3/4 Mar 14, 2023 Full Review Alison Gillmor Winnipeg Free Press The film achieves maximum amounts of emotional wallop without too much obvious sentimentality. Rated: 3/5 Mar 14, 2023 Full Review Eleanor O'Sullivan Asbury Park Press (NJ) The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is much better than that other movie about sisterhood (with Sandra Bullock), but less zingy than the exhaling women's movie or the Southern steel magnolias' comedy. Mark C Well acted from the young cast but the film never gets going. 2 hours is too much for this Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/29/24 Full Review D M Loved this movie when it first came out & years later it seems to mean even more. A connective friendship we all can remember having at one point of our lives, that we remember as one of the happy lifetimes we once lived. Nothing but a smile & a warming nostalgia waiting at the end of this film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Steve D The central premise isn't great but the cast makes it really cute. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/01/23 Full Review Joshua C Featuring a mostly grounded story and solid performances from the star-studded cast, this film manages to share truths and experiences many young people experience from the perspective of four teenage girls. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/22 Full Review doug (da) a Blake Lively makes this predictable movie come alive. I didn't know she was such a good soccer player <grin>. I liked the seaside scenes filmed in Greece too. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I love this first movie. The cast in particular was so good! The bond of friendship shown in this movie was so sweet I love it. Each character had their own set of struggles throughout the film and I found it beautiful how they are always there for each other. The fashion was cool to see too because you can really tell how the fashion trends throughout the years have changed. I can see how this movie can be a childhood comfort movie to go back to as it could provide a sense of nostalgia. The cast was amazing with some of my favorite actresses who were all very impressive and talented. I also feel like it was really good at targeting a younger audience by taking the plot and characters of the book series but making its own take. I will definitely watch the second film. 4/5 stars.
