OFFICIAL: Details of LT Jason Peters' Contract Disclosed
The Chicago Bears were in desperate need of a left tackle. So, they turned their attention to free agency and signed veteran LT Jason Peters over the weekend.
Needless to say, despite Peters' age (39), the Bears got an able body into camp. Now, details have emerged on the contract the two sides agreed upon.
According to Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Tribune, this is how Peters' contract breaks down:
- Base salary: $1,075,000
- Signing bonus: $250,000
- Roster bonus: $425,000
Altogether, the contract is worth $1.75 million.
In short, this looks like a good deal for the Bears. Additionally, if Peters stays healthy and plays up to par, the team will get a stable, experienced tackle to protect the blind side of Andy Dalton and/or Justin Fields this season.
