A great time was had by all! (but forget about trying to buy tickets if you're outside of China)
We ended up having a great time at Universal Resort Beijing (URB) but I'm giving it three stars because of the lead up to the actual visit. I'm from Singapore and planning to visit URB was a nightmare as the URB app did not allow me to register as a patron as it did not seem to be able to send me an sms verification as I have a non-Chinese mobile number. In the end, we had to chance it and booked our tickets via a helpful hotel staff (shout out to Amanda at Imperial Mansion Beijing by Marriott) after we had landed in the city. Also note that all the characters in this theme park speak Mandarin so yes, Harry Potter is all in Mandarin which was great to experience for my kids of are nuts about anything Potter related. Food was definitely the highlight as it was a lot better than expected. At the Sunset Diner, we sat down to an excellent Chinese meal of mapo tofu, steaming hot rice, sauteed beef cubes, and vegetables fried with garlic.

    Worth a Visit
A great park to visit. Park is well-maintained and lots of restaurants option as well. Surprisingly, food is good too inside the park. Download the app which is very handy as it provides updated wait time of all the rides and park information as well. Due to winter time, certain outdoor rides will be closed. So do bear that in mind if you plan to visit. Downside of purchasing tickets if you are not local, it is a tough process if you do not have a local number. We ended up purchasing through Klook instead which makes everything much easier, just remember to bring your passports along as verification for entrance to park,

Universal Studio with a local twist
Please come as early as possible, the metro line is just in-front of the entrance. The distance between the attractions are long but the attraction it self isnt that big or as large as the Singapore version. Some rides takes less than 01 (Harry Porter) but the waiting time is hours so plan accordingly.

Never had so much fun in my life!
My children had the best time ever here! It's better than Disneyland for sure! We walked total of 14km on the day but never felt it as the whole day was so jam packed with activities. Just have to make sure you find the low season when all Chinese kids are at school, especially avoid the Chinese public holidays, I heard on peak season people have to queue for 2 hours, but we only queued up to at most 20 minutes, but most of the activities were 5-10 minutes queue. The Restaurant area outside was awesome with many choices to spoil us, while the eating places inside each theme park is full of character, we had Kong Fu Panda noodles in the Panda place, it was so much fun! Ps: the crew at the parade are very professional and Very good looking :)

I was so incredibly excited about visiting universal studios Beijing but was left quite disappointed. My husband and I took our 6&9 year old boys to explore china in celebration of it opening up and spent 17000 Yuen on this trip. We stayed at the universal grand hotel which cost around £500 a night for the two bedroom suite, which was ok, nice enough but a very small bathroom for four people and no extractor fan (did I mention I went with three men!)
We had early entry to the park wohooo but it turns out it’s only early entry to two attractions, Harry Potter and fun land.
Too fat for the Harry Potter ride!!! I was too broad in the shoulders and fat in the tummy to ride the roller coaster. This is china and I understand my western body is larger than most Chinese bodies but I wasn’t even allowed to enter the amazing hogwarts building and see Dumbledore’s office. I was gutted.
Rides were super short and cues were as you would expect.
I did enjoy the kungfu panda zone and was glad of the play area for the boys.
All interactive videos were in Chinese with no English translations.
A trip I’m not planning on repeating.

The park is nice but not small kids friendly. Under 3 years old, they really can't do much (hence the free ticket). Plus what works for them: Minion and KingFu get overcrowded ridiculously and we went on a Thursday without vacation on a rainy day with some covid restrictions.... KungFu panda opens at 11 and closes at 6pm, crowding even more Minions.
As for the one that can do more, the time broadcasted is highly inaccurate, twice we went for queue of 30min that lasted 1h, making us miss the show twice.
Some "shows" that do not worth it. The raptor encounters: 20min wait for photo, Ollivander 20min for one person playing with the magic wand.
But nice looking park, but it feels too small so they make you wait to fill the day or make you buy the express pass

Nice to visit Universal Studios, and not have to spend most of the day in lineups. Typically in the USA, I spend more time in lineups than enjoying the theme park attractions. There are lots of awesome rides and things to see. Friendly, helpful theme park staff.

This is your typical Universal Resort. The Kung Fu Panda Land is the only thing that makes it stand out. It claims to be the biggest, but I have been to Universal in California and Florida. It seems the smallest it. It is definitely worth the trip if you are in Beijing. It can get so busy that you have to wait to get into the area where all the Harry Potter attractions are. I am not talking about waiting in line but waiting to get into that area. The Chinese love Harry Potter. If you love theme parks and have never been to Universal you will be amazed. If you have been to other Universals it is still worth the visit, but don't have too high of expectations.

Before I begin I must say that I am a retired man. Ok it was ok kids obviously loved it Harry Potter was the best thing for me. Unfortunately the waiting time was bad but not as long as Florida. All of the audio was in Chinese although I could follow what was going on I think children other than Chinese may be confused. All in all I’m glad I went but it was a very long day. I think that if you had a two day pass you could space it out better towards the end of the day it was easier to get on the rides ie 16:30 onwards

I'm in Mexico, to buy tickets for Universal Beijing I have to use their app, but the app is not at the Play Store... I don't know if I will be able to go to the park next month during my visit to China.

Not suitable at all for non Chinese guests - AVOID - everything in Chinese - escalated for refund to park was told you used your ticket and that the park mainly has Chinese guest and therefore it’s your problem if you cannot understand Chinese.

NOT foreigner friendly - NOT considerate of non-Chinese.

Please avoid and save your money.
