Fantasy High (Sophomore Year)
Hey squad, my girlfriend is watching FH for the first time and we just got to the part where Gorgug finds out his van is a boat. So she said that they needed to be cast as the Scooby Doo Gang. Here are her exact words:
“Adaine is Velma, duh Fabian is Fred, duh Riz is the ghost… a given Hear me out, this is where it gets controversial. Fig is Daphne Kristen and Gorgug are Shaggy and Scooby respectively. Brennan’s the van.
Controversial take, I know… but what’s it like to be wrong if you don’t agree?

I’d love to hear her reasonings for this because my take is different for a lot of these.
For me:
Riz has to be Velma, he’s always the one doing the investigating and looking for clues. Definitely feels like the Velma of the group.
Fig would actually be the Fred of the group, coming up with wild plans (Hilda Hilda, Wanda Childa, Detective Decker)
Fabian would actually be Daphne, stylish and on point all of the time. There to make sure the group looks good and has flair and helps out sometimes too.
Gorgug is definitely Scooby in that he is more level headed and helpful at first thought than Kristen as Shaggy (though of course Kristen is immensely helpful, but her ADHD gets in the way the first time around often)
Which leaves Adaine to be the ghost or the bonus character in the movie episodes who was just helping out. I think she would honestly love to just be chilling and helping out.

The only change I would make is that I feel like fig fits better in the Scooby shaggy dynamic. She ignores her actual classes to do what she feels like, the same way that Scooby and shaggy ignore solving the mystery to go look in the kitchen for food. As for the wild plans thing, I think that actually fits Scooby/shaggy better. In most iterations, Fred's plans are pretty well thought out and you can see how they work. They're convoluted, but you can at least track the thought process. And then you have Scooby and shaggy pretending to be sexy lady ghosts to arouse and confuse the perpetrator, or groomers and the werewolf agrees to let them primp it for a dog show. Their deceptions are so weird and somehow they always completely baffle the monster into playing along, usually through the use of elaborate and instantaneous disguises, which is perfect for fig especially with her high charisma. If I had to pick one, I'd probably say Scooby since he's usually a little more brave and composed than shaggy and figs whole guard dog thing this season.
I think gorgug and Adaine as a composite fill out Fred pretty well. Gorgug is Fred's role as a straight man, along with his tinkering for building Fred's elaborate traps, plus they're both the van-guys. Adaine works for Fred as a leader and problem/mystery solver.

Riz is Velma, Adaine is Fred, Fabian is Daphne, Gorgug is Scooby, Kristen is Shaggy and Fig is, obviously, the Hex Girls!

Siobhan definatky has Velma vibes and that bleed theiugh abit but Adaine diesnt do alot of clue hunting
I respect the thought behind them. But Kristen is definitely the Daphne. Danger Prone Daphne with a negative dex save, tends to succeed mostly through sheer dumb luck in finding something (those Beardsley Nat 20’s baby), and keeps getting reinvented or having something different with each major iteration (she’s gone through three gods and freaking philosophy).
Adaine is definitely the Velma, no argument, nor with Fabian as Fred. They are perfectly cast.
Gorgug though is the Shaggy of the crew. Gorgug’s current angry arc is just Shaggy when he was hypnotized into being brave in that one movie. Rizz is the Scooby. He holds them all together as the glue who supports them all when they need it as everyone’s best friend. The Ball is their Scooby.
Fig is The Ghost…and also The Hex Girls. And also the decent person who’s The Ghost, but is actually the Lesser Ghost who they catch early on and helps catch the REAL major ghost…and then skateboards away shouting how she would have gotten away with it, if it wasn’t for those meddling bad kids.
I feel like Fig is definitely fred (especially when considering the Mystery Inc version) because she's not stupid by any means and always does end up helping but she's also kinda a wild card when it comes to her plans.
