Sophomore: I am a sophomore at WashU. The depth of the education and the number of opportunities (if you seek them) can be life-changing. The business school is super good at hosting recruitment events if your interested in business careers, and the academics ARE HARD -- You will do a lot of work. CS department could be stronger; premed/ bio/chem/pre-law deps / olin are excellent. The undergraduate student body is tight-knit and mostly extremely friendly. People are very smart but not obnoxious or entitled. Campus life is great because many of the undergrads (freshmen, sophomores, and some juniors) live on campus. The housing is excellent, and many students have kitchens on campus. St Louis is certainly not a luxury city (i.e. NY or LA) but does have good restaurants (DRIVE NOT WALK AWAY) and a cheap cost of living (concerts are usually way cheaper). It is way better than being in the woods, but not the bestest place. The school has partially impeded on the fun with their attack on greek life.... Read 1,574 reviews

Other: As a parent of a current student, I recommend SLU without hesitation to any other prospective families considering the university. Finding the right college is an exciting, yet overwhelming process for both the student and parents. We visited SLU, among many other schools, after our son was accepted. There are many reasons we chose SLU. First, we had a great meeting during our visit with a professor in our son's major. Him taking the time to meet with us (and on a weekend) demonstrated that professors truly care about students. The campus is beautiful. It has a park like setting within a city with plenty of green space, fountains etc.. . Campus felt welcoming and safe to us from the moment we stepped inside one of the many arches. There's also a nice grocery store along with the Foundry, where students can get snacks for their rooms or a bite to eat. Junior: I really like UMSL because it's the sister school of Mizzou where I got my nursing degree. I was really happy with all of the remote options for classes because I work night shift. I've really enjoyed school because it's giving me a sense of grounding and security. I also like the consistency of working toward my goals. I've found the content to be super valuable in every day life. I'm learning a lot about myself and gaining new perspectives on how things are. I got to visit campus for the first time this past weekend for my friend's graduation. It's a very beautiful campus and very clean. I really liked walking around the atmosphere of it all.... Junior: So far my experience at Maryville University has been pretty great. I have met so many great friends, and this campus has allowed me to reconnect with old friends with it being so close to home. Almost every professor I’ve had has been amazing. I have had two concussions since being here due to athletics and the teachers and disability staff are super accommodating. However, the coaches on the teams (stunt and cheer) I was on dismissed my concussion and used it as an excuse to get mad at me or threaten my spot on the teams—both making me cry on several occasions. The campus/student life is not good in my opinion. There are not a lot of engaging events on campus, no parties nor many events that seem interesting. Bigger schools like mizzou have sororities and fraternities which Maryville lacks in. They should include Greek life into student life, and more people will get involved in campus events. Additionally, there are not many food choices, and sometimes the food is stale or soggy.... Read 722 reviews

Alum: My overall experience was not so positive throughout my nearly two-and-a-half years stay at Webster. And I believe it was due to some bit of administrative challenges from the school's management. For instance, it was nearly impossible to believe that a typical American University should lag behind time consciousness during certain important programs run by the school despite, the Lecture times being strictly adhered to in most instances. The reason was that I was anticipating learning new ways of doing things considering the school's background. Freshman: Lindenwood University offers a wide range of degrees and services to students. I'm currently an online student and I love the professors that are very tentative to my needs and are willing to do extra studying zooms calls with other online students to help us with any exam. I would love for more teachers to have Zoom calls going over our syllabus or just monthly video chats about what our work is going to look like for the month. For my degree, my advisor actually did that for us just to have us know what we are aware of for our futures. In addition, it is extremely helpful to get to know students more! Being online makes me feel very isolated and disconnected from other students and the college itself very often. Freshman: I love Harris-Stowe State University because not only have I made a family but I can call it my home for the next 4 years. Harris-Stowe creates a safe space and a safe learning environment for those who do not have this. I have made friends with students, faculty, and even my professors. Everybody here is so welcoming which makes it even more comforting for me especially coming from California. The campus has a very home-felt vibe and the campus activities are always the best. Junior: Since being at Missouri Baptist I’ve really enjoy the faith based classes and community. On the positive side, I appreciate the convenience of the flexible online format, the support from instructors, and quality of classes within my major. However, there are areas for improvement. I've expressed concerns about the lack of real -time interaction with students and instructors. Additionally I am disappointed with the limited and unattractive scholarship opportunities available for regular students, especially considering the steep tuition fees at a private university.
