Biography

THE WORD
Returns for his senior season as one of the most experienced players on the roster • A versatile player with a high IQ • Has the ability to play a variety of positions • Sees the game extremely well and is a strong defensive player • Can get to the basket on the drive, on the block and around the rim • Head Coach Tom Izzo refers to him as an “OKG” –  Our Kinda Guy ... Can handle the ball and has the ability to shoot the three and play on the block.

2022-23 (Senior)
An Academic All-Big Ten selection … Appeared in 23 games, starting five times … Started the first four games of the season but missed the next eight and then missed three more conference games with an injury to his left foot … Averaged 12.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in the first four games of the season … Finished the season averaging 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting 43.6 percent from the floor (72-of-165) in 25.9 minutes per game … Second on the team in free throw percentage, connecting on 84.6 percent of his shots (44-of-52) … In Big Ten games, averaged 8.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists … Scored in double figures 11 times (7-4) and had one game with at least 10 rebounds … Scored a season-high 20 points, hitting 7-of-11 shots from the floor and all five of his free throw attempts, and grabbed five rebounds in a career-high 42 minutes in a win over Kentucky in the Champions Classic (11/15) … Nabbed a career-high, and Big Ten career best, 13 rebounds in a loss at Rutgers (2/4) … Scored 11 points, grabbed three rebounds and had a season-high, and Big Ten career best, four assists in his return to action in a win over Iowa (1/26) … Started on Senior Day at home against Ohio State (3/4), scoring 10 points with three rebounds … Had 11 points, eight rebounds, two assists and block in the Sweet Sixteen loss to Kansas State (3/23) in the NCAA Tournament.


2021-22 (Junior)

2020-21 (Sophomore)
Appeared in all 28 games, starting nine games • Started the final five games of the season • Finished sixth on the team in scoring with 5.2 points per game and third on the team with 4.2 rebounds per game • Also averaged 1.3 assists per game • Connected on 48.9 percent of his field goals (45-of-92) • Averaged 5.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in nine starts • Scored in double figures six times, tallying 10 points at Duke (12/1), against Oakland (12/13), at Northwestern (12/20), at Iowa (2/13) and against UCLA (3/18) • Scored a career-high 19 points against Maryland in the Big Ten Tournament (3/11) • Registered first career double-double with 10 points and 10 boards at Duke (12/1) in a career-high 29 minutes.

2019-20 (Freshman)
Appeared in all 31 games, starting nine times • Finished the season averaging 4.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in 15.9 minutes per game • Against Big Ten opponents, averaged 4.1 points and 3.9 rebounds in 17.0 minutes • Started nine of the final 12 games of the season, averaging 5.3 points and 4.4 rebounds in 19.3 minutes • Scored in double figures twice • Led the team in rebounding twice (vs. Duke, Iowa) • In just his third career game, came off the bench to score 17 points, hitting three 3-pointers, in 19 minutes during the Gavitt Tipoff Games at Seton Hall (11/14) • Grabbed a career-high eight rebounds twice, vs. Duke (12/3) and Penn State (2/4) • Scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds in a win at Maryland (2/29).
