Billy Baker’s loved ones had just begun to pick up the pieces from his devastating death… and now, tragedy has struck All American once more.
The CW drama has a habit of ending its seasons with a life-or-death cliffhanger (see: Coop getting shot in Season 3), and Patience was the victim in question during Monday’s Season 5 ender. After having zero contact with stalker fan Miko for most of the hour, Patience opened the front door of the Baker house in the episode’s final minutes, only to be stabbed (!!) by an approaching Miko seconds later.
Miko ran off right away, leaving Patience to pull the knife out of her abdomen and sink to the floor — and leaving us to wonder if the character will live to see All American‘s previously announced sixth season. And just to pour a little more salt in that gnarly wound, it seemed that Coop was on her way to the Baker house at that very moment, to reveal that she still has romantic feelings for Patience that she’d like to explore. (Sorry, Skye!)
In other developments from Monday’s finale…
* To commemorate Olivia’s final day in the States before her trip to London, Spencer planned a full day of sweet surprises for her… all while both of them maintained, to other people in The Vortex, that they’re “just friends.” (Sure, Jan.) When it came time to say goodbye to Liv, Spencer initially whiffed, merely wishing her a very platonic “Safe travels!” on her way out the door. But later that night, Jordan reminded Spencer — as they both know all too well from Billy’s death — that life is short, and Spencer’s got to share his feelings with the people he loves before it’s too late.
Spencer then raced to the airport, where he found Olivia just as she was preparing to board her plane. And finally — finally! — he poured his heart out to the girl, telling her that they’d only broken up because he wanted Olivia to be happy, but truthfully, Spencer’s been miserable without her. Olivia felt the same way, and tearfully considered not even getting on her flight to London, but Spencer wasn’t having that: He promised to be waiting for her when she got back, and they shared a long kiss at last before Liv left to catch her flight.
* With a little encouragement from Olivia and Grace, Laura warmed up to the idea of pursuing teaching opportunities at Golden Angeles University.
* And the finale offered us a fun little mystery to solve: Who was the owner of a sparkling engagement ring that JJ had found in a velvet box at the beach house? After spotting the ring on the kitchen counter, Jaymee assumed it was Asher’s, sending her into a bit of a tailspin. (She loves Asher, but she finds the concept of marriage archaic, and she doesn’t need a ring or a piece of paper to be all in with her partner.) Fortunately, after acting a little off all day, Jaymee confessed to Asher that she’d seen the ring — and it wasn’t his, after all! Not only did Asher agree they don’t need to be married to be committed to each other, but he had some exciting news from Jaymee’s doctor: They’re having a boy!
* As for that ring? It’s Jordan’s! He proposed to Layla, and — perhaps surprisingly, given their ages — she said yes! (I’m Team Jordayla’s biggest cheerleader always, and I know Jordan’s working through some stuff right now, but two engagements before age 20 seems… ill-advised, no?)
With that, I turn it over to you. What did you think of All American‘s season finale? Grade it in our poll below, then drop a comment with your full reactions!
Patience needs to learn to look before opening the door. Especially when you have a restraining order against a crazy fan.
.
Jordan needs to stop marrying his girlfriends after one year. The high school marriage was silly. This is just dumb. Two marriages before he is 21. Wrong place to take his story.
.
Spencer should have gotten on her flight. He has money from the NIL (Name/Image/Likeness,) stuff from last season. He could have spent two or three weeks and then gone back.
.
Coop and Ash both had solid episodes with real growth. They figured out what they want (or don’t want in Ash’s case,) and took a step toward a better future. Laura did the same but that wasn’t much of a surprise for the audience.
.
I am not sure what they are doing with Dylan, but his GF was weird and sad. Also whatever happened to Carter’s daughter? They have a step sister we never see.
All American !! Can’t leave now, the story is not complete. We have to know what happens to Spencer football career please don take All American off it the best African American show and All American homecoming . I really enjoyed watching the two shows and I am sure that alot of viewers feel the same way I do…
No need to worry, they will be back for a new season next fall that was made official months ago, what saw last night was what they call a cliff hanger to make sure you come back for another season. I also love the show.
I am not sure about homecoming, but I can see Netflix buying the rights and keeping All American going through season 9 or 10 if the actors would keep doing it. All American has a huge streaming following and I have very real hopes for it beyond next season.
Who doesn’t look at the door to see who it is before they open it. Patience needs to learn to look before opening the door. And I feel like something is gonna happen in those 3 months that olivia is gone for. Maybe she comes back a different person, maybe she stays in London longer then 3 months. I think coop is gonna have a hard time with whatever is gonna happen to patience shes gonna go out for blood for sure. I can’t wait until the new season comes out. How long do I have to wait for ?
Shortest possible wait is October. But, between the changes to the CW and the writers strike it is impossible to know. Might not even be in 2024 if the strike drags too long (unlikely but possible.)
Hearing about Patience getting shot reminds me of Rebecca Schaeffer she was an actress in Hollywood during the 1980s however at the age of 21 in 1989. She was shot point blank range in her doorway when she answered the door unknowingly to her stalker who was obsessed fanboy of hers. Schaeffer’s death helped lead to the passage in California of legislation aimed at preventing stalking. Then there’s Christina Grimmie who was a singer she was shot during her meet and greet after a concert by an person who security didn’t flag as shady. She died hours later in a local hospital while her shooter immediately killed himself after he shot her. This happened in June of 2016. So while Hollywood has come an long way since Schaffer’s murder some cases fall through the cracks sadly when it comes to preventing tragedies like this from happening again.
Actually Patience was stabbed.
My bad I don’t know why I wrote shoot instead of stabbed, but my point still applies
Yay sornser & Olivia, perfect together
Jordan and Laylas engagement, big tick there too
Love the way Preacher advise Ĵo3
Jordan’s face/reaction when the guys said the ring was his was funny as was…Asher (I think who said it) that he loves getting married.
While they are young I am confident the marriage will work. Him saying Layla was his first crush and having Billy’s “blessing” were two things foreshadowing the engagement.
I am happy that Liv and Spencer got back together and when Liv said that they could have been kissing all day it gave me the feels! Love them together. I knew something bad had to happen but I was 100% caught off guard by Miko. I hope Patience will be okay. We cant have two deaths so close together.
Asher and Jaime having a boy!!
Great season ending show. However, Patience must live.
I don’t think they’ll have her live because I think the next big story line will be Coop being charged with the murder since Patience and her had broke up and no cops really knew about Miko. Of course Mama Laura will defend Coop and her mean professor will help with the prosecution. The long trial that she inevitably wins will put her back in the popular eye and she’ll take Patience’s place as big$$ rapper. And Spence, not to be outdone, wins the Heisman.
I’m pretty sure the Bakers or one of their neighbors has hidden security cameras to catch the guy doing the act. Plus the knife should have his DNA on it if he handled it before without gloves. Also why didn’t she have damn patience (No pun intended) and called 911 instead of doing what she did because pulling the knife out of your body always makes things worse!
I enjoyed the season finale but given Billy’s untimely mid-season death, having Patience stabbed at the end was a bit much. I was happy that everyone was happy or moving in that direction given the mid-season twist so to end the season with just everyone happy would have been a great ending as well. The cliff hanger wasn’t necessary because we are all coming back for season 6 anyway
Why do people on TV always pull the knife out? It drives me crazy lol
Even though it maybe the wrong thing to do it’s probably just an instinctive reaction.
It was a real cliff hanger. My stomach felt like I was on a
roller-coaster. Excellent writing and Producing. Please just let Spencer and Olivia be happy together next season. I don’t feel like being scared them anymore. Lol😆 But yeah…Bravo, Good Job!!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
*scared for them
I love All American and I’m an elderly lady! Hated Billy was killed off. Love Liv and Spencer together. I think Jordan and Layla make a cute couple, I just think they are marrying too soon. Patience swinging the door open in Beverly Hills is probably not that unusual but despite her knowledge of crazy Miko, she was unfortunately lulled into a false sense of safety and let her guard down. Hope she makes it – I like her and Coop together. Can’t wait until next season!
Great season finale!!! Spencer and Olivia were fantastic–been waiting SO long for that. Jordan and Layla are also fantastic–they have so much chemistry unlike Jordan and Simone, who was a sourpuss. The best acting I’ve seen from Michael Evans Behling is with Layla. And a cliffhanger! Great epsode!
It cracked me up every one doing their British accents when the actor that plays Spencer is actually from the
UK. When I first heard him speaking in his native tongue I was floored.
Thank God!!! This is best season 5!!! I would said best actor & actress prove better than season 4. I love Olivia dance and love fanatics culture! Congratulations Jordan & Layla got engaged. Congratulations, Asher & his girlfriend got baby also live together. I’m so proud of JJ change and get better as well. JJ coolest and friendly person ever. Proud Coop study law and don’t give up. Jordan & Olivia’s mother Laura decide teach at university. I’m shocked about Patience got hurting, I can’t wait next show episode.
It’s just silly that Patience (1) answered the door without looking (2) pulled the knife out – everyone knows you don’t do that as it makes the injury even worse and (3) she didn’t immediately get on her cell phone – time is of the essence. Everything besides that ending was good.
One of the best series in a very long time! Don’t want it to ever end !
Patience better not die. And Miko better not get away with this! She’s totally nuts! I want Asher to be happy and am a big fan of Dillon and Coop.
Why leave it with her being stabbed
