Email from FB - "Warner Music Group Rights Management has applied actions to your video"

Question

I'll preface this by saying I am just a boring mom in my late 30s with 50 followers on Instagram and 42 friends on Facebook, most of which are family. My accounts are private and I don't post much, usually just milestone moments to share with close friends and family. Over the last year, I've made a few reels for kids birthdays, showing the best memories from their year set to music. My kids enjoy watching them. I used to just do it on Google photos, but it gets glitchy and I found it to be easier on Instagram. So on NYE, I made a reel of our favorite memories from the year and my daughter was helping me. We went to the list of music available within the reels on Instagram and from the "most popular" list, we chose Coldplay's "Sky Full of Stars"...it was in the movie Sing 2 and my kid loves it. I posted it to Instagram and I have my settings set to also post it to Facebook. I went about my day and then I got this email from Facebook saying: Warner Music Group Rights Management claimed your video because it contains music, audio or video that belongs to them. Their actions will be automatically applied unless you submit a dispute. You can submit a dispute within 7 days if you feel this is a mistake and you have the rights to use this content. By submitting a dispute, you give Warner Music Group Rights Management permission to review your video and information that may allow them to identify your account.

I'm confused because I just chose it from a list of music that was available on Instagram. I wasn't trying to be sneaky or steal anything. Can someone tell me what this means? Does Warner Music now own my video with all these family photos? Can I just remove it from Facebook?

i just received the same email. Did you get a resolution?

Hello! I just received this in my mail, and it’s just a reel of food being served and the bg was so noisy so I put in some music. Sorry if this is a stupid question but, What would happen if I do nothing about it?

Be careful with blindly trusting emails like this and typing in your Facebook information. Before clicking any links, you should go to your FB account>settings>password and security>recent emails>other emails to see if it did come from Facebook.

The same happened to me today. I thought it was a spam

What happens if you don’t dispute this?

I've received 2 of these emails when using IG music, but when I open up support inbox in FB, there's nothing there and nothing to dispute. Pretty confused. Warner Music makes music available to Meta users, then claim the content when you use their music. huh?!

I got the exact same email today, I have no idea how to submit a dispute so that they can review my video because this is bs

I actually looked it up on youtube and found out how to submit a dispute through facebook. You need to go to settings, select help & support, select support inbox, select your alerts, tap on the video that you want to submit dispute, select see details, continue, fill out a form button or says equivalent to form, select reason (don’t select license of copyright unless u have one) I think its better to use additional information box and explain that they can’t own ur personal photo cuz its yours and that no where does it say that I own the music but that you used it directly from instagram and posted it on fb. Submit, then wait til they review your video and account. Hopefully, they will give you ownership back.

Thank you!

I deleted the video and publish it again without the music I selected in instagram. I followed the steps above and there is no mention to the video anymore. However it is there that they send me two emails today. This is wrong. They do not have the right to send emails of this type. So remove the music from instagram!

Thank you so much!! I'll try this
