Syracuse University Reviews

I am extensively grateful for the opportunities that Syracuse University granted to me. That said, however, in my last couple of years in my five-year program I started to see things that worried me as someone who cares about the program. The move away from academics as a mode of innovative thinking and deep comprehension of space and design, and the move towards having the curriculum geared towards technological classes aimed at pure "hireability" in the field is something I think will start to negatively affect the program. For example, the fact that students no longer have a hand drawing class in their first year whatsoever is extremely worrying to me. It is key that the teaching of how to think, rather than only how to work, is upheld in the future of this program.
I LOVE Syracuse. Before applying and even thinking of schools I didn't recognize Syracuse as an academic institution, I really only thought of the sports teams there are. In the beginning of my Senior year of high school, Syracuse was my #1 choice. I toured and absolutely loved the beautiful campus I know am privileged to call my "home away from home". I really like all the opportunities that Syracuse gives students to achieve their goals, and also the extra-curriculars that there is to choose from. If it wasn't for Syracuse I wouldn't have been able to meet some of my closest friends and I am so thankful.
Syracuse University has been an incredible school for me. In the past two years, I have been able to involve myself in Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, Phi Eta Sigma Honors Society, Renée Crown Honors Society, National Society of Black Engineers, and a mentorship program. These organizations allowed for me to connect with incredible people and grow in my leadership, networking, and communication skills.
