Chapter 2 is the current Chapter of the game, replacing Chapter 1 on July 23rd, 2022 at 1PM EST.

Seasons

Seasons are periods of time that categorize updates and themes. Seasons feature limited time rewards for ranking up, which are unlocked every 5 levels. You can receive gun skins, vehicle skins, vehicles, cash, and much more from Seasons. Rank does not carry over to a new season, but Cash and unlocked items do.

Season 1

Season 1 was the first season of Mad City Chapter 2. It was a major update that completely overhauled the Map, UI, Heists, and various other aspects of the game.

Season 2

Season 2 of Mad City Chapter 2 introduces a winter theme, easter theme, a new boss fight against Chris P. Bacon, and various rewards, including vehicles and weapons. Players can collect Celestial Crystals, defeat meteors, and experience a refreshed map and UI changes in this major update.

Season 3

Season 3 introduces a post-apocalyptic theme, a UI overhaul, and much more.

Changes in Chapter 2

Chapter 2 is a major update which revamped most of the games features. Below is a list of all of the changes.

• Revamped Phone and game UI
• Revamped city and map expansion.
  • The Prison has been revamped.
  • Military Base has returned and is revamped in Chapter 2.
• Revamped heists:
  • The Bank and Casino, in which their exterior are likely a combination of the first and the second revamp.
  • The Nightclub, in which the colors of glowing tiles and lighting are randomly changed with music playing.
  • The Jewelry Store has been revamped for the third time.
  • The Airport has been revamped for the fourth time.
  • A bridge now rises when Cargo Ship is coming.
  • The Cargo Plane has been revamped for the second time. The plane now crash-lands in the water and players have to dive down to search duffle bags for money.
  • The Pyramid has been revamped for the first time.
• New vehicles were introduced, and some old ones have been remodeled or retired.
  • Older vehicles, such as Smart, Inferno, Vapid, GTI, Stingray, Infinity, Patriot, Widowmaker, Adversary, T150, Dominator, and the Overdrive have retired and are now off-sale. Players who already bought these vehicles still have them, while some vehicles have been removed for good.
  • All vehicle customization from Chapter 1, including those redeemed from Twitter codes, as well as YouTuber skins, have retired and become unobtainable. They have been replaced with newer ones.
  • Player have already bought, redeemed, and/or unlocked still keep them.
  • Boosts now have colors that can be bought.
  • Vehicles had a price hike in Chapter 2, as the prices have been balanced and changed. All players that already bought vehicles that are more expensive than the new price have been compensated (i.e. buying a $1,000,000 vehicle will be compensated 50% of the price ($500,000)). Vehicles that experienced a price increase include: Cobra, Buzzard, O66-Terminator, Hyper Glider, and Scout.
  • New vehicle physics, such as frictionless realistic drifting.
  • Bikes now respond when turning and can wheelie.
  • Boats now bounce on the waves and can slide on land.
  • Jets and Planes go slower while going up and faster while gliding down, and allow players to perform tricks.
  • Land vehicles no longer flip as easily.
  • Vehicles now have health.
• Vehicle Radio has been reworked, featuring music from Monstercat and royalty music from Audiojungle.
  • After the recent changes on audio in Roblox on March 22nd, 2022, causing the Vehicle Radio game pass to go off-sale on the same date until further notice. FamedChris stated he is working on custom radio stations with different "vibes" in-game, similar to Grand Theft Auto.
  • Radio is now free for everyone with a preset list of music, while owners who previously had the Vehicle Radio game pass might have various in-game compensations (either + 45,000 XP , or $125,000 in-game cash).
• A new meta regardless on catching criminals as hero and cop, as they have balanced the teams.
  • The downing system has been removed, as part of players' feedback on FamedChris' Twitter poll. However, it reinstated on March 31st, 2023 update, but it was removed again on May 4th, 2023 update,
  • Killing criminals without arresting them will no longer send them to Prison.
• Getting higher XP is now slightly faster in Chapter 2 which helps players who wanted to reach 100.
• Apartments have been retired in Chapter 2 after introducing them in the January 2020 update of Season 5. The cash spent on the apartments, including furniture, appliances, plants, etc. has been fully refunded.
• Cash limits now depend on the weight of the items in the bag instead of money bags as a system to collect cash.
• Chapter 2 features billboards that are scattered around the map with art submissions from the Mad City community.
  • However the billboards was removed on May 4th, 2023 update, after the map changes.
• As of August 5th, 2022 update, there were 2x XP weekends.

Trivia

• The Chapter 2 update is a recoded/reworked version of the game, which means the game was created from scratch and is the reason why it took almost two years to develop. Chapter 1 had also taken around two years to develop as it was created in 2017 but released in 2019.
