- njw_toToronto, Canada330 contributionsMake the effort to walk up if you are able. It is a narrow set of spiral stone and wooden stairs but the view is great and it is also interesting to see the bells play.Written May 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Roving6829018 contributionsWe were lucky to be in the right place at the right time, having seen a leaflet for the free concerts but not expecting to have time to attend during a short visit to Bruges. We enjoyed the concert very much and bought a USB drive with the back catalogue which is very soothing. I was fascinated by the historical replica instruments and the self-invented Pythagoras harp. A highlight of the trip for me :)Written May 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- tk3232Sugar Land, TX4,019 contributionsThe more popular name of this sight is Begijnhof, which were built to house women of the lay order, called Beguines. To reach this place you must walk 10 -15 minutes from the city center towards Minnewater lake ("Water of Love") - one more beautiful place.
Begijhof has several sight here. We came here to visit the museum go get a sense of Beguine life. According to our guidebook, the museum was supposed to be open every day except Sunday, but this turned out not to be the case. On the contrary, it is only open on Saturday and Sunday. Fortunately, the Benedictine nuns gather at 11:55, proceed though the garden (almost every day) to capella and one of those told us about it. I had the chance to talk with this nice woman in French and not only about the opening hours of the museum.
Also other sight is the church with peaceful interior (was open), with its carved pulpit and tombstones on the floor. On the right wall is an 800-year-old golden statue of Mary, don't miss it. The courtyard (open always, free) has the atmosphere may make you fold your hands as you walk under its wispy trees. And of course, another pearl that cannot be missed if you are here, just south of the Beginhof is the waterway called Minnewater, an idyllic world of flower boxes, canals, swans and beautiful park around.Written October 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. For me the highlight is The Last Judgment by Hieronymus Bosch. You can stare at it for an hour and still discover interesting scenes. The two Jan van Eyck paintings are worth appreciating as well.

Saw several people enjoying beers on the patio overlooking the water and we knew this was our place! Had some delicious beers (especially liked the Blonden Os) and a pretzal - great find!Written May 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Steven WNewport, UK193 contributionsGood to see all the history but the tour was a little flat. You have to scan each code and listen and there’s so many it just lost its edge for us.
We also had to rush to make the last chocolate tasting session at the end.
Worth a visit for chocolate fans but don’t expect to be overwhelmedWritten January 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
