Indian composer, sitarist, and musical director whose works have appeared in notable films including the Academy Award-winning drama film Slumdog Millionaire, as well as Jodhaa Akbar and Raavan. He has also worked on the theme song for the Indian Commonwealth Games. He has served as a music director on a number of renowned films, such as Beiiman Love, Dongari Ka Raja, and Amavas. He also performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and at the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Concert.

Before Fame

He was born into the 6th generation of the Hindustani Classical Music apprenticeship clan known as Mewati gharana. He learned to play the sitar under his father and his family of sitar players.

His birth name is Gulrez Khan. His father, Ustad Siraj Khan, was also a sitar player, as were several other members of his family.
