Questions & Answers (106)
Q: How does this compare to the Denon AVR-X4700H? (1 answers)
A: The video chain is very similar (HDMI 2.1, HDCP 2.3, 8K, 4K 120Hz, VRR, etc.) other than the 4700 has a Zone 2 HDMI out (the s960h has dual outputs but the secondary is Video only). The audio chain is substantially different, the 4700 is far more robust and capable, it's 9.2 (vs. 7.2) and is 11.2 capable with the addition of an external 2 channel amplifier. Regarding Dolby ATMOS, the 4700 can do 7.1.2 or 5.1.4 out of the box while the s960h can only do 5.1.2 with no way to expand due to no pre-outs (the x4700h can do 7.1.4 or 9.1.2 with an additional 2ch. amp). The 4700 also has the more advanced Audyssey MultEQ XT32 room calibration versus standard Audyssey (this allows for more positions to be measured and it calibrates multiple subwoofers independently). Obviously there is a substantial price difference between the two and if that price difference is of no concern then the x4700 is the better choice since it is far more capable regarding Audio.- A: At this point this is at least partially True, it is not known if this can be patched via firmware.
Q: What? An over $600 receiver and no 2nd zone out? (4 answers)
A: If you are talking about HDMI... the Zone 2/3 feature is on the x3000 series or higher. If you are meaning 2 channel audio for a second Zone then the s960h can do that with the understanding that the main setup will be limited to 5.1.- A: The s960h cannot do 5.1.4, it is limited to 7.1 or 5.1.2. It has 7 channels of amplification built-in and does not have any pre-outs for adding external amplification.
Q: IS THIS WIRELESS?? (1 answers)
A: Yes, it has WiFi and BT.- A: It does not have an analog 'pass-through' feature (it has inputs only).
Q: Does it only have one 4k 120hz passthrough? (2 answers)
A: Yes, it has a single HDMI 2.1 input for 8K 60Hz / 4K 120hz.
