92% Tomatometer 36 Reviews 92% Audience Score 500+ Ratings As Amazon's "Mozart in the Jungle" opens, Maestro Thomas takes his final bow with the New York Symphony. Applause dies down, and the orchestra's chairwoman introduces a new conductor -- young, flamboyant, talented Rodrigo, who strides onto the stage, bows and turns his baton into a rose! Conflict begins for the badly behaved genius and his stodgy predecessor, now music director emeritus. Rodrigo promises change when he icily reviews Thomas' last concert, and it starts with auditions that alter life for a female oboist scrambling for gigs. Though confined to the isolated world of classical music, Mozart in the Jungle's Gael García Bernal makes this charming little show sing.

Geordie Gray The Australian Between Tar, The Conductor, Maestro, and Maestra — conductors in Hollywood are having a moment. But before those films came the giddy, preposterously titled dramedy Mozart in the Jungle. Jan 3, 2024 Full Review Robert Bianco USA Today For those of us who aren't familiar with his film work, it's as great a joy to discover Bernal and to watch a TV star blossom before our eyes in a performance that is comic, moving and sexy all at once. Rated: 3.5/4 Feb 28, 2020 Full Review J. Bryan Lowder Slate One of the funniest, most charming comedies going. You could do far worse than spend a portion of a winter weekend submitting to its serenade. Jan 7, 2019 Full Review Randy Dankievitch TV Over Mind [T]he performances informing these characters remaining as intriguing as ever... and that's what would keep me on board should Amazon green light another episode of this odd, occasionally quirky (and very good) little dramedy. Feb 28, 2020 Full Review Oliver Whitney ScreenCrush Attempts, and fails, to make classical music hip and sexy. Jan 7, 2019 Full Review Ben Lindbergh Grantland It's rare for a show to feature such diversity in age without any characters coming off as afterthoughts or caricatures. And even the cameos are strong, particularly John Hodgman. Jan 7, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Ricardo M This season is by far the best one. Funny, innovative and very unique. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Wasting time feeling good - with imagination, you can peel the layers of the characters and see the duality in the hearts/moral. Looking forward to the next seasons. Suitable for any gender (15+ to 107++). Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member should never of been cancelled!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Maybe I am just a grumpy old orchestra player, but I've never in my career seen a conductor of any rank of hotness swarmed by fans before a rehearsal, nor have I seen a substitute fifth oboe moved to second oboe and asked to give the tuning A. Someone bring my smelling salts. And get off my lawn. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I didn't really have any expectations when I started it, but boy did I enjoy it! I started the first episode with the thought "I'm only going to watch one". I ended up watching the first half of season 1 and the next day the other half. I adore the characters, they are all so different which makes them a fun cast to look at, every storyline is different, and they all come together at the symphony. Maybe it's because I love the fact that it's about classical music, and you don't see that very often, but I think this was a great start for a show I hope to watch for a long time. On to season 2 it is! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Stressed and distressed musicians pound out a living with talent, skill and luck in this New York based series.
