Two days shy of the third anniversary of its debut, Blood & Treasure at long last has a Season 2 premiere date. Oh, and it’s moving from CBS to the Paramount+ streaming service.
TVLine has learned exclusively that the globe-trotting action-adventure drama will debut its 13-episode sophomore season Sunday, July 17 on Paramount+ (with two episodes), to be followed by weekly Sunday releases.
Created by created by Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia, Blood & Treasure follows a brilliant antiquities expert (played by Matt Barr) and a cunning art thief (Sofia Pernas) who in Season 1 teamed up to track a ruthless terrorist who funded his attacks through stolen treasure. As the duo crisscrossed the world hunting their target in Season 1, they unexpectedly found themselves at the center of a 2,000-year-old battle for the cradle of civilization.
The cast also includes Michael James Shaw (The Walking Dead), Katia Winter (Sleepy Hollow), James Callis (Battlestar Galactica), Oded Fehr (Covert Affairs), Alicia Coppola (Shameless) and Mark Gagliardi.
Federman and Scaia serve as executive producers alongside Taylor Elmore, Ben Silverman, Marc Webb, Mark Vlasic and Howard T. Owens.
Blood & Treasure premiered in May 2019 on CBS, with its finale airing that August. Season 2 was ordered midway through Season 1, in June 2019, following some initial solid-for-summer ratings.
COVID pandemic-related production shutdowns delayed filming on Season 2, which didn’t wrap until mid-December 2020. When CBS first announced its schedule for the current TV season, Blood & Treasure was among the shows said to be “returning” at some point. As of February, post-production on the sophomore season was complete.
Of note, Barr now has a lead role on The CW’s Walker prequel spinoff, Walker: Independence.

Finally, now I need to re-watch the first season.
Why do all the stupid add ons have to ruin TV.
NO!!!!
LOL, of course after waiting all this time to watch it, they move it to Paramount+. Enjoy people with Paramount+ .
Once all the episodes drop, sign up for a free trial of Paramount + and binge the episodes.
Are you effing kidding me????
I definitely wouldn’t expect a third season
The options on the cast expired a long time ago.
Well I guess I can delete the Final episode of season 1 from my DVR, since I don’t get Paramount +
Who are you kidding? If you didn’t watch the last episodes in two years, then you were never going to watch them.
We save the final episode of the season, to rewatch when the show starts again
There’s internet piracy if you’re into that.
There are free trials if you don’t want to watch through theft.
Finally!!! But not on broadcast? Rather have something fresh like this on CBS even if on Fridays or Saturdays.
When in the last 20 years has CBS ever had a new drama on Saturdays??
Ransom, though that was an international co-production for CBS, Global (Canada), TF1 (France), and Vox (Germany).
True. I just say maximize the streaming content by airing it on broadcast, even in a bad time slot. Some of us still watch broadcast, and it’s not wrong to expect webs to remember their audiences. There seems to be plenty of content to do more with than a rebroadcast of an NCIS or FBi already broadcast and rerun.
How in the hell did they sit on like 13 new episodes of a show for over a year?!
Ha, I KNEW they would move it Paramount+. Guess it’s going to be another couple years before I watch it then.
What CBS/Paramount+ should do is something like what AMC+ does, which is show the content on both platforms. It’s just that the streaming platform shows its episodes one week in advance. That caters to both customers and doesn’t slap them in the face.
While I agree with you to up to a point, that it would be a good idea for CBS to eventually air the episodes of Blood & Treasure season 2, though it would likely be months after being on Par+ not one week. You are giving altruistic motives to AMC for their AMC+ streaming strategy when the reality is AMC is doing what they are doing because they dont have a choice. It is the only way AMC can compete until they are bought up by a bigger company.
Seems like CBS doesn’t want people to watch them, moving all these shows to Paramount+.
The move has worked out very well for CBS’s Evil. Evil would have never been renewed if it stayed on network but it’s streaming #s (originally CBS All-Access now Paramount +) had been strong through the 2 years in between Seasons and it’s gained popularity with streaming audience. Likely Blood and Treasure has already demonstrated it draws a streaming audience even without new episodes as well.
Finally! I almost gave it up with the series. Hopefully Paramout also have season 1 because after 3 years are barely remember it.
Worst handling of a promising tv series that I can ever remember. I’m guessing they won’t have a season 3 (since they are moving it to Paramount+, where they lose everyone who doesn’t have the platform). CBS sure did a great job of ruining this show.
Very annoying that it will only be on Paramount plus. I really liked the series and have been waiting for a decent show, rather stupid reality shows. Does CBS think people can afford several streaming services. TV is not like it used to be, so sad
IMO tv is better than ever. you dont have to have all the streaming services at once you can pick and choose which you could never do with cable. You could wait till all the episodes are out and then do a free trial for paramount plus if you really dont wanna pay anything.
I could actually see Paramount+ continuing the series if they get enough eyeballs, even if it means a soft reboot due to casting, which wouldn’t be too difficult with the plot.
There might not need to to a soft reboot if there is a S3 since Walker:independence is produced by CBS Studios. Depending on when CW is sold, he could end up doing both.
We can say S2 will be the end. It’s dead.
This really angers me. I know why CBS does this, but it’s not going to make me want to pay to watch Paramount plus.
Finally!!!
It’s about time!! I love the show and hope the second season is as fun as the first.
Finally !!! I’ve been waiting for eons !! Literally kept checking to see if there was a premiere date yet !
F U with paramount+
I’ve been saying they should just put it on Paramount+ since they announced the second season wrapped and Paramount+ became a thing.
About time…
This sucks. After waiting so long for season 2 it moves to a streaming service that i don’t have and I’m not adding. Networks suck. I’m so over it.
After waiting all this time, I think it is horrible that the creators of Blood and Treasure are only out for the money. I can’t afford Paramount + so I guess I don’t get to watch it…
Do you understand there’s a difference between the creators and the network that finances the show?
I hope there’s a season 3 in the works.
