After six years, singer-songwriter Niall Horan made his way back to Manila on May 13, for his Niall Horan: The Show Live On Tour concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena presented by Live Nation Philippines.

Niall, who was a member of the boyband One Direction, gave his Filipino “Lovers” a mix of mellow and energetic performances.

“It’s so good to be back in Manila. Thank you so much for filling this place up for me. I’ve missed you guys,” said Niall.

Niall performed a selection of songs from his “Flicker,” “The Show,” and “Heartbreak Weather” albums to open the evening, including “Nice To Meet Ya,” “Small Talk,” “On The Loose,” and “On A Night Like Tonight.” During an acoustic session, the 30-year-old   singer and songwriter also performed “Flicker,” “You Could Start a Cult,” and “This Town,” which was his first song as a solo artist.

In his solo career, Horan released three studio albums

In between performances, Niall would interact with the audience and read their signs.

Niall also electrified the entire arena and made everyone nostalgic as he sang One Direction’s “Night Changes.”

While waiting for Niall’s encore performance, everyone in the audience sang the chorus of the One Direction song “Stockholm Syndrome.” All of them chanting, “I’ll never leave you if you keep holding me this way.”

There was love all around, not just from Niall but also from his admirers, who planned several fan projects for him, such as fan chants, banners, and orange lights for when he performed “Heaven.”

Fans show their support through planned surprise projects

Niall referred to his concert in the Philippines as “one of his favorite nights on the tour” and he left the stage waving the Philippine flag and giving away a handful of his guitar picks to the audience. He also promised not to wait another six years to return to Manila.

He then gave encore performances of “Save Me” and “ Slow Hands” to round off the show.
