There were a couple of unique addresses ending in 1/2 instead of a whole number. There are several information panels about the history related to its past and preservation. And it's overlooked by stunning Chateau Frontenac. We walked a couple times through it, enjoying the views, talking to local lady who advised what to see/visit in the city. If you are tired there are plenty benches to sit and have a rest. There is also small cafe/ice cream shop. At the end of it you can find tobogan for winter adrenalin seekers. - TERRAvelistaLondon, UK18,016 contributionsTo reach the lower town you either take the funicular from the Dufferin terrace for 5 CAD one way/per person (the entrance is located inside the glass square houses right near the statue - don't forget to press on the door to access this area) with the capacity of the funicular of max 6-8 people and going every minute, reaching the old town in 1 minute.
The other option is to walk all the way here, if you have the energy, and immerse yourself in more touristic attractions with lots of over prices cake shops/ice cream shops/nougaterie or restaurants and fashion shops far detached from the French or European fashion though.

We have been to many cathedrals but the ceiling/vault (?_) had a beautiful purplish tint and imparted it such an amazing pious quality that made you truly appreciate that you were in a sacred space. It’s easy to feel transported back in time and imagine the bustling market business going on here very close to the Old Port. And, these French speakers are actually Friendly! - PeteFredericksburg, VA1,206 contributionsThe defensive capabilities look very significant to me. Most of the structure is not only on top of a hill but buried deep underground. I would think this would give it protection from aerial attacks. The perimeter is also surrounded by a significant moat probably 30 meters wide by 30 meters deep. I would think that this would give it protection from ground assault.
It’s also the place where the battle for everything was lost by the French. The French failed to adequately defend the top of the cliff. Later, on the plains, the French were too hasty to attack and met double musket ball fire from the British. We were met by a guide in period costume who explained a lot of the history that it had been a prison. We got to see the converted cells - and it was definitely not somewhere you wanted to be. A nice old library - quaint. The first two were surprisingly interesting for me, someone w zero interest in those specific topics. But it’s more about the history and individuals than the topics per se. - donna18638 contributionsIf you enjoy tobogganing a high speeds this is the attraction for you. We enjoyed the ride. Would have rode it more if it had not been so cold and windy the day we were there. Went for the Rembrandt engravings but preferred, to my great surprise, the temporary collection of Canadian art, and the permanent collection of contemporary art.
