If you are in Beijing, you must do the tour to the Great Wall, preferably with Mubus. It was an unforgettable experience which we were able to enjoy in a relaxed manner thanks to the good organisation of Mubus Bus Tours. Our company guide Mr. Mike was the best guide ever, he gave us a lot of valuable information about the wall and also about Beijing with his great knowledge of its history and culture. Thanks to his likeable and humorous manner, even the journey there was entertaining and amusing.
Thanks a lot for the good support, it was the best way to experience the great Wall of China!

    Greetings Ursula and Barbara

The place is historical. Both locals and tourists visit this place, that's why it's always crowded. I spent couples of hours there. It's too big, so the whole day you can walk around and explore many useful things.

The place is so huge that the whole day you can walk around. I didn't know that on Mondays the main palace is closed, that was so pity I couldn't see it. Definitely it's worth to visit.

At the end of May, the temperature was already close to 90 degrees F with no shade. On a hot summer day, it will feel hotter than the actual air temperature. Also, the wall is quite steep, with either slanted rocks or steps of very uneven heights. There is some degree of fitness needed to make the climb, but it is very worth it. Taking the tram up to the wall makes it a bit easier.
This was my 2nd trip to the Badaling section of the Great Wall - the last visit was in 2012. The air was so much better this time! You could actually see the wall snaking across the mountains, and the view was so majestic. There is so much history to absorb here.
Weekdays are a bit less crowded. Be sure to bring water! Admission over age 60 is free - bring your passport. All ages still have to pay for the tram. If you are blonde, you'll likely be asked to take pictures with locals, which is actually kind of charming. There was some ice cream for sale near the tram entrance and also medals for making the climb and a few other souvenirs.

We opted for the Temple of Heaven over the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square after a friend in Beijing said he liked it, and we'd seen the other sites on prior visits. The Temple of Heaven is very large - it is a surprisingly big area, but it has a very relaxing vibe. I think Beijing overall has a more historic feel versus a city like Shanghai, and sometimes that feels a bit oppressive to me. But the Temple of Heaven has such a tranquil feel. You smell pine as you walk among the trees, and people are just chill, walking the park, some doing Tai Chi and taking in the history. The east gate is near the Tiantandongman metro stop (across from the Pearl Market), and there was no line to get tickets. Bring your passport, over age 60 is free, even for foreigners.

Quite a large place. The temple buildings were lovely.
    Cost 25CNY entrance.
After visiting a lot of temples on our 13 stops throughout China, whilst I did enjoy having a wander through, I did think other temples I had visited were better.

The place is large and takes long walks to explore the vast area. The daily flag hoisting/down even is a crowd pleaser so be prepared with published times to witness it.

Make sure you have plenty of time because this is a large area with tons of galleries, museums, and places to eat. I was there in May and it was warm with not a lot of shade when outside. There are many styles of art and setting is open and friendly. I spent about 5 hours and didn’t see everything I wanted to see. It is a little out of downtown Beijing but worth the effort to het there. I used Didi and it was very reasonable and the fastest and easiest way to get there and back. I highly recommend this art district if you have the time and interest.

Jingshan Park is renowned for its artificial hill, constructed from soil excavated during the construction of the Forbidden City's palace moat. From the hilltops, you can enjoy great city views.

Definitely a wonder of the world. Views are amazing but be prepared for some lengthy climbs up some steep sets of stairs so pace yourself. Set your own limits but we'll worth the effort.

Uncrowded late March (tail end of the low season)we saw no more than 40 people enroute. It was impressive though restored. The dam was still iced over adding to the picturesque charm. Apparently the wild sections are no longer accessible due to the death of an American diplomat and his family 3 years ago (this is what local told us).
