DuPont Manual High School Reviews
Rating 4.23 out of 5 813 reviews
As a former Visual Arts student, the concept of the entire school is fantastic. However, I would advise a considering student to NEVER apply for the VA program. There is no creativity allowed in there. Deadlines are harsh, spirits are broken, and unless you plan on going to art school, your time spent in the program is meaningless. After I graduated, I continued making art and could not finish a piece without having a breakdown for TWO YEARS. It made me hate art. Some of my friends even quit making art altogether because the fear of having their art judged so greatly outweighed the joy we used to feel while creating.
In my experience, there is no high school in the state of Kentucky that is better than DuPont Manual. This school has provided me with the courses and resources to get me somewhat "over-prepared" for college. The energy that the school has is unmatched. Especially during spirit week, where every other year, we host the oldest running rivalry football game West of the Appalachian Mountains. This school provides a large selection of college level courses, some of which are taught by former college professors. DuPont Manual has the best ranked academics in the state, and has for many years. The only negative experiences I have faced is that some teachers are quite strict. Though, I believe this only prepares me more for the college experience. Overall, DuPont Manual is a wonderful school, and I couldn't imagine being taught anywhere else.
Going to duPont Manual High School is an experience like no other. Heed the warnings your seniors give you, it's hard here. But being the best requires the best. The academics and YPAS are truly outstanding and nothing in the entire state compares. As a YPAS student, you will be pushed hard and your talents will be tested, if you skirted by with natural talent or hard work you will fall behind, you need both to succeed here. But the relationships and fun you have here is worth every moment.
