Howard University Reviews
Rating 3.49 out of 5 4,080 reviews
One of the standout features of Howard University is its vibrant community. The diversity among students and faculty creates a rich cultural and academic environment. This diversity fosters a sense of belonging and provides a wide range of perspectives that enhance the learning experience. The main challenges I faced was dealing with administrative processes. Whether it was financial aid, registration, or housing, the bureaucracy often felt slow and unresponsive. Long wait times and unclear communication can be frustrating and impact students' ability to focus on their studies. I would like to see an investing in the renovation and upkeep of dormitories, classrooms, and common areas would make a big difference. Ensuring that all buildings are equipped with modern amenities and that maintenance issues are promptly addressed would improve the daily lives of students.
Howard University is a huge façade, it bates you into thinking its one thin g but its not. There's no student life unless you call student outside of the dorms yelling and screaming to 2 a.m. The food is horrible and the lines are long to get through the cafeteria. Everything is under construction, and the crime on campus is scary. It is difficult to manage the imprisonment you feel because of the restrictions. There are daily fights between all the girls, very little diversity in terms of female and male ratio. Parents beware!
Howard has always been my dream school and I am proud to say that it did not dissapoint. It is an esteemed HBCU with an engaged and supportive student body, alumni network, and staff. A unique aspect of the school is the level of participation and engagement from the student body; everyone is running for an elecrted position or president of this or that organization. Everyone is fighting to have the most well rounded and memorable resume, however unlike many PWI of similar caliber, there is not a competitive culture. Everyone wants to see everyone win. Something that surprised me about attending this school is the diversity. There are many multifaceted, geographically diverse students here. I will say the biggest challenge this school faces is saftey and security. Especially being in a city like dc, the homeless population is very large as well as substance abuse and crime. Howard does well but in my opinion we should be a closed campus. All in all, I am proud to be a bison!
