Gabriel Basso confirms The Night Agent season 2 is "almost finished"

Production on The Night Agent season 2 is almost over. Star Gabriel Basso, who plays Agent Peter Sutherland in the hit Netflix original series, just confirmed that the season is "almost finished."

Basso shared the news with fans via Instagram, along with a behind-the-scenes picture of himself on set of The Night Agent season 2.

"Being a Night Agent is painful," Basso said in the caption "@joshfriedstunts caught me reflecting on my life decisions. Season 2 is almost finished. So close."

Well, if that's not the best news that Night Agent fans hear today, I'll be stunned!

Production on The Night Agent season 2 started in January 2024. In April, it was confirmed that production was more than halfway done on season 2. Now, in mid-May and with Basso sharing production is almost done, things could be wrapping any day now. Then, the show moves into post-production before a late 2024 release date.

We know that The Night Agent season 2 will be released on Netflix sometime later this year in Q3 or Q4. Ted Sarandos confirmed as much during the Q1 Netflix earnings call. As we've mentioned, it makes a lot of sense to save The Night Agent season 2 for holiday season 2024, but if production wraps soon, we could see season 2 in September or October.

Things are going to looking a bit different for season 2, as well! There's a whole new cast in The Night Agent season 2. Obviously, Basso is back as Peter, along with Luciane Buchanan, who plays Rose. They'll be joined by Brittany Snow, Amanda Warren, Arienne Mandi, Berto Colon, Louis Herhum, Keon Alexander, Michael Malarkey, Teddy Sears, Rob Heaps, and Navid Negahban. They are all playing new characters.

The setting will also be different for season 2. At the end of season 1, Peter is officially integrated into the Night Agent team. Production moved to Thailand for season 2 before coming back to New York City. As you'll recall, the full first season took place in and around the Washington D.C. area.

Be on the lookout for the official word that production on The Night Agent season 2 has wrapped. As soon as production ends, Netflix could drop the release date or teaser for the new season. Stay tuned!
