Disc 1 contains "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" and "The Reluctant Astronaut". Both films utilize the same HD masters used in the prior stand alone Universal blu-rays. "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" is presented its original 2.35:1 aspect ratio whereas "The Reluctant Astronaut" is presented in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Both films utilize the AVC codec featuring robust bits rates usually hovering between the upper 20's and low 30's so no compression artifacts are to be found. Both films feature healthy grain structures along with terrific detail and contrast levels. Sound is presented in English DTS-HD 1.0 master audio for both films.
Disc 2 contains "The Shakiest Gun in the West" and "The Love God?" with the former presented in its original 2.35:1 aspect ratio while the latter is presented in 1.85:1. Both films again utilize the AVC codec with the former having a bit rate hovering between the upper 20's/lower 30's (this is the same transfer from the Universal blu-ray) while the latter usually hovers around the mid 20's. Both films look excellent and with "The Love God?" previously only available on DVD, having it now finally in high definition is a treat. Sound for "The Shakiest Gun in the West" is in English DTS-HD 1.0 master audio while "The Love God" is English DTS-HD 2.0 master audio.
Disc 3 contains "How to Frame a Figg" which again utilizes the same transfer from the previous Universal blu-ray. The film is presented in it its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio with a bit rate hovering between the mid and upper 20's. Like the other 4 films in this collection, this film similarly looks great in all respects. Sound is presented on English DTS-HD 1.0 master audio.
English subtitles are available on all five films for the hearing impaired.
Special features are contained on disc 3 as follows:
- Don Knotts Guest Stars On The Red
Skelton Show: "Deadeye And The
Gunslinger" (25 min. 26 sec.)
- Trailers From Hell: "The Ghost And Mr. Chicken" (2 min. 39 sec.)
- Trailers From Hell: "The Love God?"
(2 min. 44 sec.)
- Theatrical Trailers For Each Film
- Image Gallery
- TV Spots
- Savings Bond PSA

Overall this is a great blu-ray release by Shout Factory offering tremendous value. All 5 films look and sound fantastic. Sprinkle in some nice special features and it comes highly recommended.
Its also fun to see a lot of actors from the show making appearances in these films.
I had never seen Love god before buying this set. It’s edgier and maybe not kid friendly. Compared to modern adult comedies, it’s squeaky clean and still has a wholesome message in the end, but just be warned that it is racier than the others. You probably ought to screen it yourself before just pressing play for the kids.
The packaging is great. All the movies are in a single thin case that protects them well. Doesn’t take up much space and there’s none of that awful disc stacking like some manufacturers do with multi disc sets
Great picture quality. There are a few rough frames here and there, as with many older films. Overall the picture looks amazing.
You will Knott be disappointed!
"The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" - Best and most popular film of the bunch about a haunted murder mansion is still quite funny and appealing, imbued with an innocence of a bygone era. A perennial favorite.
"The Reluctant Astronaut" - Silly and innocuous comedy co-stars a straight-faced Leslie Nielsen as an actual astronaut, Knotts as a NASA janitor/would-be astronaut.
"The Shakiest Gun In The West" - Shaky comedy-western in which the most appealing thing is co-star Barbara Rhoades as Knott's unlikely wife.
"The Love God" - Bizarre comedy was a flop at the time, but has become a cult favorite(with some) with Knotts as the most unlikely male sex symbol ever!
'How To Frame A Figg" - Last of the bunch is also the least known, left off that previous 4-film DVD release for some reason, and not well remembered either, though viewers can make up their own mind if they choose to watch it.
Don never leave 'em hanging
