The Radiators From Space

About The Radiators From Space

The Radiators From Space were Ireland’s first punk band, formed in Dublin in 1976. The original lineup of Philip “Chevron” Ryan, Pete Holidai, Steve “Rapid” Averill, Jimmy “Crashe” Wynne and Mark “Megaray” Hogan released their debut album, TV Tube Heart in 1977. Averill left the group later that year to focus on graphic design and subsequently designed the covers for all of U2’s albums.

Their sophomore album, Ghostown, was acclaimed but failed to sell well. The murder of a teenager at a punk festival in Dublin organised by the group made it impossible for them to book venues in Ireland, and they moved to London. They disbanded in 1981, but reunited in 1987 and 2003 with varying lineups. Following the death of frontman Philip Chevron in 2013, the remaining members have continued under the name Trouble Pilgrims.
