- Hog Driver6 contributionsWow, a long day, but well worth it. Lots of bus riding, but we got to see the key sites in Southern England. Kevin, our tour guide is a wealth of knowledge about the local area and specifically English royal history. He blends an in-depth knowledge with dry wit that makes for a wonderful experience. Be sure to have walking shoes and water/snacks for this 11-hour day (although there are opportunities for casual dining). Unfortunately, for us Windsor Castle was closed today (just as indicated in the tour website) so we were limited to walking around it, still Kevin led us with story upon story of British royalty. The stop at Bath wasn't nearly long enough to tour the Roman Baths and the town, so plan your time accordingly. Also, access to the actual baths isn't included in the tour price, but well worth the extra to see this amazing engineering accomplishment. He was able to answer every question and it wasn’t boring even though our tour was 5 hours long. Leeds Castle - Not sure where the time went but I didn't really have enough time to check out other sites on the grounds.
Cliffs of Dover - Less than half an hour spent here. Just enough time to take some photos. Kind of disappointed that the cliffs were partially covered by vegetation so not like the images I see on TV/internet. Leslie said it's due to excessive rainfall.
Canterbury Cathedral - Nice big cathedral though the letdown was that it was under renovation, so a lot of the outside was covered in scaffolding. Had enough time to grab lunch in town.
Even though it was raining this day and despite the minor things I was disappointed with, I had a lovely time. Mostly the time at each location was adequate.
