Loyola’s 2022-23 Men’s Basketball Schedule Revealed

Ramblers begin A-10 play December 31 when they host George Washington

CHICAGO (September 7, 2022) – Loyola University Chicago will play 14 home games, including showdowns with long-time rivals DePaul, Dayton and Saint Louis, according to the 2022-23 schedule, which was revealed today. The Ramblers will play their first league game as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference on December 31 when they host George Washington.

The Ramblers will have ten league games broadcast live on national television as part of the A-10 television package.

Fairleigh Dickinson pays a visit to Gentile Arena for the first time in program history on November 7 to raise the curtain on the 2022-23 regular season. Four days later, the Ramblers make the short trip to the Near West Side to tangle with city rival UIC (Nov. 11).

Loyola has played in several top-flight multi-team events (MTE's) the last few years and this season is no exception. Beginning November 17, the Ramblers open play at the Myrtle Beach Invitational, which also features Boise State, Charlotte, Colorado, Massachusetts, Murray State, Texas A&M and Tulsa. Loyola will play three games at the event, also competing on November 18 and 20.

The Ramblers conclude a string of five consecutive games away from home when they head to Harvard on November 25 before closing out the month with a home game against Central Arkansas (Nov. 30).

That game against the Bears kicks off a stretch that will see Loyola play four of its final six non-conference games at Gentile Arena, where it is unbeaten (9-0) in non-league play since the start of the 2020-21 campaign.

December opens with a much-anticipated showdown with local nemesis DePaul on December 3 in Rogers Park and is followed by a visit to Gentile Arena from former Horizon League mate Green Bay (Dec. 6).

The back end of the out-of-conference slate features a pair of neutral site contests versus power conference teams. Loyola heads to Atlanta to battle Clemson on December 10 and then following a week break for final exams hosts Albany (Dec. 18). A trip to California closes out the non-league schedule. Making their first trip to the Golden State since the 2010-11 season, the Ramblers will face Stanford on December 22 in Santa Cruz, Calif.

Following the A-10 opener against George Washington on New Year's Eve at Gentile Arena, Loyola starts off the new calendar year with back-to-back road games at Davidson (Jan. 4) and George Mason (Jan. 7) before returning to Rogers Park to host VCU (Jan. 10).

After a quick trip to Saint Joseph's (Jan. 14), the Ramblers open up a stretch that will see them play four of the next six contests on their home floor, beginning with a showdown with Saint Louis on January 18. St. Bonaventure makes its first trip to Gentile Arena on January 21 and Loyola then plays consecutive road tilts at Duquesne (Jan. 25) and Dayton (Jan. 31) to close out the month.

Loyola opens up February with a brief two-game homestand that will see it face George Mason (Feb. 4) and Saint Joseph's (Feb. 8). That mini homestand leads into a short two-game road trip featuring showdowns at Richmond (Feb. 11) and Massachusetts (Feb. 14) and then the Ramblers will play three of their final five conference contests in Chicago.

Dayton pays a visit to Chicago on February 17, followed by Jesuit rival Fordham making its first trek to the Lake Shore Campus since November 26, 2011, when it was Loyola's opponent in the first contest in a freshly renovated Gentile Arena, on February 22. Loyola plays the second half of its home-and-home with Saint Louis on February 25 in St. Louis to wrap up the month.

The Ramblers begin March with their home finale versus Rhode Island (March 1) and then conclude regular-season action at La Salle (March 4) before venturing to Brooklyn, N.Y., for the Atlantic 10 Championship at Barclays Center, March 8-12.

Through the course of the 2022-23 season, there will be 57 televised conference games, eight televised non-conference games and three conference games on NBC digital as part of the A-10 package. Each of the league's 15 teams will make at least three appearances on national TV.
