The Britain’s Got Talent judges were quick to award the Golden Buzzer to young singer Ravi, who wowed them and the audience with a powerful performance.

The eight-year-old, who performed alongside his choir, landed the coveted Buzzer during the ITV competition’s second episode on Sunday (21st April), and it was Alesha Dixon who put Ravi’s Dream Team straight through to the live shows.

Judges Dixon and Amanda Holden were left in tears as Ravi and his choir performed A Million Dreams from the movie musical, The Greatest Showman.

“I’ve watched BGT all my life and always wanted to audition for it,” Ravi told the panel. Two years ago I was diagnosed with a brain tumour and I’m here to show that no matter what life throws you can still achieve your dreams.”

Judge Alesha explained her Golden Buzzer pick, telling the choir: “The Golden Buzzer is such a personal thing and I always say I can only press it when it feels right, and you’re such a remarkable young man.”

Ravi’s Dream Team choir is made up of friends, family, teachers and other children in the brain tumour community, and they had all four judges - including Simon Cowell and Bruno Tonioli - up on their feet as they celebrated their Golden Buzzer moment.

Audiences watching along at home felt just as emotional watching Ravi on stage, with many taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share their reaction to the heartwarming performance.

“Ravi’s Dream Team #BGT, he’s gotta win, what an incredible lad,” said one fan, while another wrote: “BRB just crying after watching Ravi’s Dream Team  audition  #BGT.”

A third commented: “Ravi’s Dream Team, absolutely outstanding!! Just amazing and the togetherness, love, support and harmony they bring. Loved it!! #BGT #BritainsGotTalent.”

It wasn’t the first time the judging panel got the chance to press the all-important Golden Buzzer, with Amanda choosing to press for Sydnie Christmas from Kent. The singer blew the judges away when she took to the stage to sing a rendition of Tomorrow after revealing she dreams of being in the West End.

She had all four judges on their feet, as Alesha told the performer, “You are full of character and personality. You’ve got it all going on. Say no more, girl! You smashed it, so let’s have it!”

Britain’s Got Talent returns Saturday, 27th April on ITV1 and ITVX.
