Out of all my Hong Kong movie crushes, Chingmy Yau will always be my number one. Her chipmunk cheeks, beady eyes and tiny mouth, she just drives me crazy, the fact she’s ultra charming and charismatic on screen is just the icing on the…birthday cake if you will.
The reason I start the review on this piggish note is because your enjoyment of this film hugely relies on how much you enjoy Yau being cute and sexy on screen.
It’s a fun comedy about Yau being hired to cure a man of his impotence because she gave him a hard on (yep) and it’s oddly pretty damn sweet as well. Just know going in this is very much a micro…
Pretty much Yikes! The Movie, attempting to blend the premises of Indecent Proposal, Showgirls, and While You Were Sleeping into a palatable romcom that has Chingmy Yau being hired by the brother (Ekin Cheng) of a rich businessman to seduce the latter out of sexual paralysis after said businessman catches a glimpse of Yau's panties from a gust of wind and gets his first boner in years. Additional offensiveness is supplied by a subplot where Yau's gay personal trainer (Michael Wong) teaches her to dance so sexily that she winds up converting him to heterosexuality, much to the delight of her horny female bestie.
