- tjlovetotravelSingapore, Singapore149 contributionsI was there on my own without any guided tour and it was an exploration and perhaps will visit again next time if I am still fit. I took a bus to the tourist office and brought a bus ticket and there are 2 different route or tour bus you can take, all in Mandarin so was a small struggle. Took TaiShan option and the bus ride to the main station was beautiful & scenic. CNY 100 did not include the 2 ways cable car but was told it was included, very misleading. If you decide to trek down, it will take about 3 hours. The cable card ride cost extra 45 each way.
Best to consider to stay 1-2 nights at this area to enjoy seafood and explore the area leisurely. It seems there is a restriction for cars to enter this district in QingtaoWritten March 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. In the evening the buildings are lit up and a lot of people gather to see it.Written July 25, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BobbyK312Beijing, China326 contributionsDefinitely worth a visit if you're in Qingdao. And I don't understand how anyone could come to this city and NOT visit the Beer Museum lol. The culture of Tsingdao Beer permeates the entire city.
The outdoor grounds are gorgeous and there's a self-guided tour, which includes a lot of history of the place. I saw a few private guides as well, but IMHO, even without the guide, you get a great experience walking through by yourself. Of course, like any brewery tour, you get a fresh glass of beer to enjoy near the end of the tour, and there's a nice tasting room with snacks and beers to enjoy when you finish the tour. I strongly recommend the beer taster, which gives you a sampler of all their beers.
The gift shop is huge, with lots of cool items for sale.
Highly recommended!Written May 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I visit this area almost every weekend. Improvements are being made yearly, and efforts to convert derelict homes into quaint cafes have been mostly successful.Written March 19, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tjlovetotravelSingapore, Singapore149 contributionsMass daily at 6.30 am from Mon to Sat.
No anticipated mass on Sat. There are 3 masses all in Mandarin on Sun. There is a lovely bookstore, there is a small entrance fee to pay for all visitor. Lovely cathedral though not huge. The surrounding areas are worth visiting for half a day or more.Written March 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was quite busy on the day we visited with some people tagging along their luggage, which I don't know where they were going. We, on the other hand, did not walk all the way out. Just enjoyed the view from the beach area.Written May 20, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- eatdrinkmenwomenHeidelberg, Germany253 contributionsOur family spent almost half a day in this upscale large mall.
While our daughter got beautiful nails done (2hrs for 25€ with a Chinese Groupon voucher), my wife and myself had a delicious bubble tea and strolled through the unbelievable variety of shops. She mainly for clothes, me for electronics, cars (!) and food outlets/stores. Unbelievable choice of restaurants in this mall in all price ranges and cuisines.
Many people of all ages in this mall, so we also enjoyed the people watching. 🙂Written October 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The audio guide in English works well, though there’s a bit too much about the furniture for my liking and not enough about the governance - weirdly, the history of the sewer system was a real highlight. This will give you a great background to Qingdao and I reckon you should visit it early in your stayWritten February 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Surveyor47Havant, UK1,855 contributionsA nice, easy walk, very informative. There is a lot to see and plenty of places for a snack or drink. There is also a shpping mall nearby.Written January 15, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada7,261 contributionsThis was a great part of Laoshan National Park but was a little out of the way from the rest of the park. We misunderstood and thought we could take a bus from the Laoshan Tourist Service Center but you actually have to take a seperate bus near Beijiushiu metro station to get up here. The hike was about intermediate and there were plenty of places to stop for breaks and refreshments.
We loved this section for the amount of shade throughout and the crystal clear water. It made for a very pleasant morning.
When we got to the fork near the entrance we decided to go left to avoid the crowds and our gamble paid off as the path was less inclined going this way. We find the path the other way was quite steep and we prefer to walk down from the heights.
Cost of a ticket into Laoshan is 210 yuan for three days to access all areas but you can also spend around 90 to get to specific ones. We think two days in Laoshan is perfect. There are cable cars in many of the sections and it is worthwhile asking attendants which ones are open if you need them. This section does not have a cable car. Plan to spend around 4 to 5 hours for this section including the busses to and from this area. I would recommend a good pair of shoes too. You may also want to bring a little bit of cash in case you need to buy refreshments mid snack as I could not got my WeChat pay working in some areas.
As a side note there were quite a few friendly feral cats in the area when we went in July 2021 including some kittens.Written July 13, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This building can been seen from the beach and walking by for a closer look. We were told that President Chiang Kai Shek and his wife Madame Soong Mei Ling stayed there when they visited Qingdao.Written May 20, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
