New details in case against couple accused of quadruple homicide in Laurel, Nebraska
New details emerge in the case against a couple accused of a quadruple murder in Laurel, Nebraska.
First, defense attorneys are asking for a judge to throw out the death penalty against Jason Jones.
Jones, 42, faces multiple counts of homicide, use of a weapon and arson charges that carry a maximum penalty of death or life in prison.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for all four counts of first-degree murder, according to court documents.
A total of four people were found dead early on Aug. 4 at two separate homes in Laurel.
The four victims were 53-year-old Michele Ebeling, 86-year-old Gene Twiford, 85-year-old Janet Twiford and 55-year-old Dana Twiford.
Monday, Jason's wife, Carrie, appeared in court. She was taken into custody on Dec. 16 for first-degree homicide, tampering with physical evidence and accessory to a felony.
Prosecutors allege she killed Gene Twiford herself, and helped hide her husband and evidence.
A judge unsealed the affidavit then resealed it, so the case details wouldn't be made public and possibly jeopardize the trial in the small community.
Her preliminary hearing was scheduled for Feb. 15.
