The show revolves around the Harmons, a family of three, who move from Boston to Los Angeles in order to reconcile past anguish. What the Harmons don't know is that the house they've moved into is haunted. But it's not haunted by Casperesque friendly ghosts -- it's haunted by demonic creatures. The creatures have a history of not only spooking the house's residents but also devouring them. After living in this house, family patriarch and psychiatrist, Ben, may need a shrink of his own. Amy Amatangelo Paste Magazine In general, I'm not buying what the show is selling. American Horror Story: Asylum is about shock value, gore, depravity and the occasional singing number. The show doesn't have a larger message, and you can't convince me that it does. Jan 24, 2013 Full Review Rob Salem Toronto Star We are all too well-educated now in horror-movie tropes to really be surprised by any of this stuff. It's all in the execution, and to his great credit, Murphy executes this horror story with aplomb. And a lot of screaming. Oct 18, 2012 Full Review Eric L. Hinton New York Daily News It's a solid setup. And given the writers were tasked with coming up with a completely new storyline for an established hit, the foundation seems well laid and primed with numerous avenues to explore. Oct 18, 2012 Full Review Cameron Ferguson Black Girl Nerds The season as a whole was so smooth and so terrifying that it's probably the only one I will continue to go back to and watch. Jun 26, 2018 Full Review Matt Donato We Got This Covered American Horror Story: Asylum is filled with plenty of dark secrets, sinister twists, and unexpected turns - but unfortunately the one thing this psychologically invading season lacks is thoughtful explanation. Rated: 6/10 Nov 4, 2013 Full Review Paul Chambers Movie Chambers The show grabs you, shocks you and keeps you guessing. The only question left unanswered at season's end is "Will Season 3 be half as good?" Rated: B+ Oct 10, 2013 Full Review Read all reviews

Jen R My favorite AHS season so far. I loved that this season felt complete, unlike many of the later seasons. The acting was great in this season as well. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/24 Full Review Ari V Best, scariest and more intense season of AHS. Truly scarier than many mainstream horror movies. Great plot, amazing acting and a stellar main cast. Must watch for ANY horror fan! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review Eleanor M Solid cinematic horror with twist and turns at every corner its solid cast and powerful writing produced some amazing scenes and gut wrenching moments the constant tension and emotion that was palpable throughout will keep anybody enthralled! The cast were very affective at bringing there characters to life The claustrophobic feel was very realistic, especially in the asylum it really felt as if you are amongst those trapped in the most awful circumstances, they had the 60s atmosphere down to a tea. I thought it was brilliant that they brought up operation paperclip and Nazis that were brought to the west that would've literally for real being free to work as surgeons. This is now well documented. I was incredibly impressed with the cinematography the lighting It's not for the fainthearted it's for those who really enjoy the cut and thrust of realities, mixed him with out otherworldly scenarios without giving too much away. The aspect of having death was beautifully done, how we all at moments , want to just kiss death and be free that was beautifully presented and acted, and very, realistically done when people Would rather hold on and fight on the ultimate battle of good and evil without it being cliched. It's a very powerful series and season two was exceptional. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/20/23 Full Review Ricardo d Para mim uma das melhores temporadas de AHS. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/17/23 Full Review Freedom T I feel this season was a bit clunky, but it was super fun overall giving it an 8/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/12/23 Full Review Rowan C This season is, imo, the best one. It feels like a finished story by the last episode and the closure is satisfying in a way other seasons aren't. It has everything you could want, the devil, an angel, aliens, Nazis, a serial killer with a thing for skin, Jessica Lange breaking into song and dance... It blends together so well and feels so cohesive as far fetched as that may seem. If you were to only watch one season of AHS, I'd tell you to watch this one.
