We had to stay here and glad we did! I suppose a 70 year old motel in the US is historic but is is wonderfully kitsch. The rooms were well appointed and quiet and we did not hear the trains on the tracks even though they were right behind us. Enjoyed sitting on the bench outside having a coffee and watching the trains in the morning. If you are travelling on Route 66 make a reservation here and support this iconic motel. You will also be supporting an independent establishment rather then a faceless corporate insitution.

The Wigwam is our go-to stop while on Route 66.
The clean rooms have no amenities like in-room coffee, hairdryer, fridge, or breakfast but does have nice hot shower, cable TV, A/C, heater and comfy bed.
Recently renovated, it still has the original furniture and each unit has a rusty old car parked in front. The pavement could be resurfaced, but hey, it’s low budget and funky.
The neighborhood is somewhat desolate and evenings are quiet with the occasional freight train.
Museums, great diners, and plaza are a short drive away.
The rustic office is open for a few hours which has a small museum, gift shop, and two wood burning fireplaces for the chilly evenings.
Sarah was very friendly and accommodating.

62 years ago while on a family trip on Route 66 to California, Mom and Dad were looking for a place to stay, when I spotted a Tee Pee motel, but they wouldn't even stop to check it out.
My husband and I drove to Holbrook AZ to stay in a Tee Pee and found it to be a great/fun experience. Yes, it is not a luxurious hotel, it is a Tee Pee. It was clean, comfy bed, Ac and heat, hot water in the shower with great water pressure. We enjoyed our two nights here and that was also enough time to see the sites.

My husband and I tried contacting the Wigwam Hotel for reservations and the website is a joke and to call they have limited hours. We called today and were hung up on twice by the woman who answered the phone and were curtly told we don't have any reservations and didn't bother to say when they might have availability. Customer service 101 will get you a long way! They lost our business.

If you are looking for a five star hotel with all the comforts of home and 24/7 service, then this place is not for you. If you are a fan of Route 66 and all the nostalgia that comes with it, you can accommodate the limited office hours, and can deal with the lack of amenities, then this is a Route 66 icon that is a must-stay on your trip.

The wigwam itself is surprisingly roomy, and the beds are quite comfortable. Being a concrete structure, the room was quite cold in the morning but the electric heater warmed it up quickly. It was very quiet and we slept soundly thru the night.

The only drawbacks we encountered was a very small bathroom, and not enough electrical outlets to plug in our electronics - nothing out of the ordinary for a place that has its reputation for being anything but ordinary!

It didn't work into our driving plan to stay here for anight, but I wanted to give it a thumbs up anyway. We wanted visit this place as part of our road trip, so we took a detour to see them. I can say they were easy to find, looked very clean, freshly painted, the outdoor space was well kept, we saw people checking in, and the cute Route 66 town felt safe. I love that the owners are keeping this piece of Americana alive.

We really wanted to stay in the Wigwams as we thought it would be a fun experience.
They are old, dated and you feel like there is decades of grime and sweat in the room.
Staff was friendly, but ONLY there between 3pm-9pm.
You need to ask for a blow dryer at check-in fast as they are in limited supply.
Not much is open in Holbrook. Very little to do there at night.
You either have noise from the road in front or the train that goes all night in the back.
Bring an extension cord. Very few outlets.
No plug in the bathroom.
Very noisy old air conditioner.
If you are on the fluffy side, good luck getting in the grungy shower.
There's a good grocery store across the street and a Dollar General. Not much else around.
It could be nice, but needs a lot of updating and TLC.
We wouldn't stay there again.

In the midst of a 8 night road trip we book a teepee for our 31st wedding anniversary.
This was our second time staying here and it was as awesome as our first.
Check in was between 4pm-9pm.and was a breeze.
The parking is full of large holes, due to the rain they get, so watch out and drive carefully.
Location is very dark. While taking pictures at night I witnessed a car run into the curb because he didn't see the entryway onto the property. He did some good damage to the front of his car.
Anyway the teepee was clean and cozy. The small tv didn't bother us because we weren't on vacation to sit around watching tv.
I like the fact that you can backup your car direct to the doorway of the teepee.
At 16 degrees in the morning, that came in handy.

The area is quiet except for the trains, which we like and they didn't bother us.

Built in 1950 this place has been through a lot and were thankfully that it is still up and running.

Than k You Wigwam Motel

We will be back.

Back in 2014ish, we spent a night at the Wigwams in California and visited with Kumar Patel-great place and great room! This trip, September of 2020, we were excited to stay at the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook, Arizona, FINALLY!! We stayed in the wigwam closest to Route 66 on the east side. It was very similar to the ones in California, tho not quite as, well, not sure if modern is quite the correct word. The rooms were very similar. The bed was clean and comfortable, as was the room. The bathroom was clean. The folks in the office were VERY nice and helpful! There was a small museum in a room in back of the office which was pretty cool to visit. Additionally, the lobby was really cool and inviting.

Surprisingly, we did not lie awake at night due to the high volume of train traffic. There was not a refrigerator or microwave, but it was okay, we had a cooler and we ate out. We appreciated all the space not being taken up. There was a nice television, but we were so wore out by all the exploring we did, we did not even watch tv. We did, however, LOVE walking around the grounds, photographing the old vehicles and wigwams!! This is definitely a must stay place, at least once!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, ask for a wigwam closer to the street.

The enticement of staying in a wigwam lured me in so I booked us a night there. It's a cement wigwam, sparsely decorated but it's kitschy and different. The old cars parked all over are pretty cool to look at. The room is round-ish with a small bathroom on one side.

The light-switch for the bathroom in our wigwam was up high on the wall on the outside of the bathroom. In the middle of the night you couldn't go in, close the door and then turn the light on so the bright light was a little disturbing to whoever was trying to sleep. I say "trying" because of the trains.

I read someone else's review that said they thought the nearby (a stone's throw away) trains stopped around 10:30 p.m. They don't. After being awakened at 12:30 a.m. by the bathroom light on, I did not sleep again. Trains go by about every 20 minutes and they are loud. I sleep with ear plugs and still heard and felt every train. I finally gave up at 5:30 a.m. and got ready for the day.

If you want a "different" experience of sleeping in a wigwam, go for it! Just take an eye mask and noise canceling headphones you can wear to sleep.

There's no breakfast offered but there are maybe 2 restaurants in town plus some fast food.

The best part of staying in Holbrook was taking the road to the south entrance of Petrified Forest. Go in from that direction and you'll see the coolest petrified wood - tons of it!

Room Tip: The closer to the road is probably best. Traffic on the road is less bothersome than the trains...
