PAGASA Says Northeast Monsoon and Easterlies Will Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that northeast monsoon and easterlies will bring light rains over parts of the country.

On Friday (March 1, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The amihan and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that the northeast monsoon will affect Northern Luzon while the easterlies will affect the rest of the country.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora.

Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Estareja said that one tropical cyclone is expected to form or enter the Philippine area of responsibility or none at all.

“Ngayong Marso ay mababa pa rin ang tiyansa na nagkakaroon tayo ng mga bagyo pero posible pa din ito, for this month, zero or one po na bagyo ang possible,” Estareja said.

The weather agency has warned the public for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

The Philippines is prone to tropical cyclones because of its position. These storms typically bring with them intense rainfall and flooding, which can cause major damage to property and crops as well as fatalities.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the northern and eastern sections of the country will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
