Overview
The Canterbury varsity baseball program is a member of the Western New England Prep Baseball League. The league is divided into an Eastern “Cleary” Division and Western “Young” Division. Canterbury competes in the Young Division against Salisbury, Gunnery, Berkshire and Millbrook. Inter-divisional play against Suffield, Williston, Pomfret, Wilbraham & Monson and Cheshire Academy round out the 13-game league schedule. Additional non-league games against other regional opponents complete the regular season, culminating with a play-off between the Young and Cleary divisions.
The Saints’ coaches use many tools in order to get the best out of the players. Right View Pro, a video analysis program, assists the coaches in breaking down swing and pitching mechanics. They also use an extensive “Baseball Playbook” which teaches the student/athletes baseball skills as well as life lessons.
The passion and expertise of the coaching staff combined with a competitive league and non-league schedule make Canterbury a desirable destination for baseball players to flourish. Many players go on to compete at the collegiate level, and some continue on to the professional level. In July 2020, Baylor Sundhahl ’15 began playing professionally with the Sussex County Miners.
