Born Pink (stylized in all uppercase and alternatively titled "BLΛƆKPIИK Born Pink") is the second Korean studio album by BLACKPINK. It was released on September 16, 2022 with "Shut Down" serving as the title track.
"Pink Venom" was released as a pre-released single on August 19, 2022.
The physical album comes in nine versions: Black, Pink, Gray, Kit, LP, and individual member digipack.
Background and Release[]
On August 1, 2022, a Born Pink announcement trailer was posted on the group's social media accounts announcing that the group would be releasing a pre-release single in August, an album in September, and starting a world tour in October.[1] Later that day, YG explained that Born Pink is the project name for their upcoming releases.[2] On August 8, a teaser poster was posted which revealed that the group would be releasing the pre-release single, "Pink Venom" on August 19.[3] On August 10, a teaser poster was posted which revealed that the group will be releasing their second studio album, Born Pink on September 16.[4] On August 11, YG revealed that pre orders had open up and that the album would be released in five physical versions: Pink, Gray, Black, KiT and LP.[5]
On August 24, YG Entertainment revealed that BLACKPINK are filming the music video for the title track for Born Pink in Gyeonggi province. They also added that the title track will shock the fans and that the music video will raise the status of K-pop quality to something that hasn't been seen before.[6]

BLACKPINK performed "Shut Down" for the first time on September 20 at Jimmy Kimmel Live!.[7]
Commercial performance[]
On August 18, it was reported that Born Pink has reached 1.5 million pre-orders.[8] On August 25, it was reported that Born Pink has reached 2 million pre-orders.[9]
As of September 17, YG reported that Born Pink 52 #1's on the iTunes Top Albums Chart and 60 #1's on the Apple Music Top Albums chart. "Shut Down" also got 43 #1's on the iTunes Top Songs chart and reached #1 on China's QQ Music realtime chart.[10]
Born Pink sold 1,011,266 copies in its first day of release on Hanteo. It's the first album by a female artist to sell over 1 million on the first day on Hanteo.[11]
On QQ Music, all the songs including the title track "Shut Down" followed suit and achieved so-called line-up. In Japan Line Music, these new songs were placed side by side at the top of the charts.[12]
Circle chart reported that Born Pink sold 2,141,281 copies during the week of September 11 - September 17. The album sold over 2 million copies in the first two days of release.[13]
Born Pink debuted at #1 on the United Kingdom Official Albums chart. It's the first album by a Kpop girl group to chart at #1.[14]
Born Pink debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It's the first album by a Kpop female artist to chart at #1 and the first female girl group album to reach #1 since 2008. During the first week, the album reached 102,000 equivalent album units (75,500 traditional album sales, 25,000 streaming equivalent album units, and 1,500 track equivalent album units).[15]
For the month of September, Born Pink sold 2,517,206 copies on Circle Chart.[16]
The album had 33,161,519 filtered streams on its first day in Spotify.
