Sushmita Sen celebrates 29 years of winning Miss Universe crown for India, reveals what photographer said post the feat

The actor added, “The privilege of representing & winning for my Motherland is an honour so profound, it brings me to tears of joy even today…29 years later!! I celebrate & remember this day with great pride as History bears witness, INDIA won Miss Universe for the first time ever on 21st May 1994 in Manila #philippines.”

Sushmita first participated in Miss India and competed against Aishwarya Rai in 1994. Sushmita, who won the title, had earlier revealed that she almost withdrew her application after learning about Aishwarya. However, Sushmita’s mother schooled her and pushed her to participate in the pageant. 

The actor had said, “My mother said ok fine let her win. If you think that she’s the world’s most beautiful then loose from her. What’s the point of losing from someone else? Go give it your best shot.”

On the work front, Sen is looking forward to the release of the third season of Aarya, and the new web series Taali.
