Brooklyn Technical High School Reviews
Rating 3.93 out of 5 2,335 reviews
Life at Brooklyn Technical High School is exhausting. Starting with the education, no one prepares you for the sudden increase in workload from freshman, to sophomore, to junior year of high school. You will find yourself burnt out no matter what strategies you try to put in place to prevent it. However, the quality of education in the school is unmatched to most local high school. The courses are all very rigorous, and from my experience, all the teachers are willing to help you achieve greater goals. I especially enjoy the major system within our school since it allows students to immerse themselves in a career-specific education.
Something I would like to see changed is the organization within our administration. There are too many instances of miscommunication between the higher ups and the students. This is because they often do not effectively nor clearly communicate their messages through short and concise emails.

The school strives for diversity, providing counseling or group activities to foster community. In addition, clubs and opportunities are given to students of all ethnicities, gender, and sexual orientation. The school also provides two gender neutral bathrooms and a quite a large portion of the students identify or are comfortable with the queer community. However, the food has been lackluster and the bathrooms are constantly being sullied by clogged toilets and sinks. In addition, some of the rooms lack air conditioning and the heaters emit loud noises.
Being a student at Brooklyn Tech has been a whirlwind of an experience so far. I’ve met amazing people, but I find it’s hard to feel connected to such a large school when your identity feels so anonymous. I’m constantly comparing myself to the people in this school who are much smarter than I am. Its hard to really stand out because of how competitive you have to be. Something I like is how Tech has “majors” like Law and Society. It allows students to explore a career path and gain a greater leverage among other students when entering college. I would love it if the school was able to pay more attention to each student, but again, with the large student population it’s not possible.
