Le 500 migliori canzoni di tutti i tempi secondo Rolling Stone: la lista aggiornata a febbraio 2024

Nel numero di questo mese, la rivista statunitense Rolling Stone ha aggiornato il suo celebre elenco delle "500 Greatest Songs of All Time". Nell'introduzione, si sottolinea che "l'elenco del 2021 copriva molti decenni di musica popolare ed è stato il risultato di un voto tra più di 300 artisti, scrittori, produttori e personaggi del settore; questo aggiornamento copre tre anni, dal 2021 all'inizio del 2024". Nei due anni e mezzo trascorsi da quando, nel settembre 2021, Rolling Stone ha lanciato la nuova versione della lista delle 500 migliori canzoni, sono arrivati – a giudizio della testata americana – "nuovi classici ad opera di artisti come Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey e Taylor Swift". Da qui l'esigenza di aggiornare l'elenco, che già aveva subito un profondo cambiamento nel 2021: "Laddove la versione del 2004 dell'elenco era dominata dal rock e dal soul – ricorda la rivista – l'edizione del 2021 contiene più hip-hop, country moderno, indie-rock, pop latino, reggae e R&B". Quella versione della classifica era stata realizzata attraverso "un sondaggio tra più di 250 artisti, musicisti e produttori - da Angelique Kidjo a Zedd, Sam Smith a Megan Thee Stallion, M. Ward a Bill Ward - oltre a personaggi dell'industria musicale, critici e giornalisti". Ora, Rolling Stone ha chiamato nuovamente a raccolta più di 250 artisti, critici e personalità del settore musicale per aggiornarla.
