Oran Coltrane (born March 19, 1967 in Huntington as Oranyan Olabisi Coltrane ) is an American jazz and pop musician who also works as a DJ . [1]
Live and act
Coltrane grew up in a musical family; his parents were jazz saxophonist John Coltrane and jazz pianist Alice Coltrane . After the early death of his father, he first played drums in childhood. In 1972 he was involved in an arrangement of Living Space (a recording by the John Coltrane Quartet ) by his mother on this instrument , which was released on the album Infinity . In 1982 he performed with his mother and brothers John and Ravi in the Sons of Coltrane quartet at the Royce Hall in Los Angeles. [2]
Coltrane graduated from the California Institute of the Arts . In 1987 he performed with his mother and other musicians from the vicinity of John Coltrane on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his death in New York. In 1992 he was a saxophonist with Santana .
In 2001 he formed a rock band in which he sang and played guitar and drums; with this band he toured the Philippines. He presented his debut album Oranyan (BabySiva / Deity) as a rock singer and guitarist in 2004. [4] In the same year he was a saxophonist on the album Trans Linearlight involved by Alice Coltrane, in the following year to Meshell Ndegeocellos The Spirit Music Jamia: Dance of the Infidel , which he shared with that also the title track Dance of the Infidel wrote. The TV movie Elle: Sing for Your Dream contains his song Shake It .
