Former model Hunt starred in several notable films, including the 1937 John Wayne western “Born to the West,” the 1939 Lana Turner vehicle “The Glamor Girls,” the 1940 adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice,” and the 1948 classic noir “Raw Deal.” As early as 1945, she was serving on the SAG board.

However, she had her career uncovered when she and her second husband, screenwriter Robert Presnell Jr., joined a Hollywood group that questioned McCarthy’s efforts to seek out Communists in American society, including Hollywood.

After being recognized as a probable communist by the right-wing journal Red Channels in 1950, he was urged to publicly disavow his activities before the publication would consider hiring him for future assignments, but he declined.
