Awake Lyrics
Yeah
[Chorus: Chiiild]
Meet me in the bedroom, lay there awake
I've been thinking 'bout this thing here all week
One night could feel like four days (Yeah)
Meet me in the bedroom, lay there awake
[Verse: Mahalia]
Time slows down when you pull up to the venue (Uh)
Michelin star crib and my body's on the menu
VIP treatment, giving you the chef's special
'Cause I still get butterflies daily, like the first day that I met you (Met you, ooh, ooh)
I got a dilemma (Dilemma)
Whenever (Whenever)
We're not together
If you're tryna be the Nelly to my Kelly, pull up on me
No pressure, sir
[Chorus: Chiiild, Mahalia, Chiiild & Mahalia]
Meet me in the bedroom, lay there awake
I've been thinking 'bout this thing here all week (Got me thinking 'bout this thing, woah)
One night could feel like four days (Yeah, yeah, oh)
Meet me in the bedroom, lay there awake
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh
Ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Meet me in the bedroom, lay there awake (Yeah)
[Bridge: Chiiild]
You've been feeling distant (Yeah)
We're omitting our natural fixes
Your body's the mission
Tunnel vision on nights like these (Nights like these, yeah)
Yeah (Nights like these, yeah)
I know you work hard
Hardly working on yourself
(Won't you) Let go of your stress
Lay back (Lay back)
Lay back, decompress
[Chorus: Chiiild & Mahalia]
Meet me in the bedroom, lay there awake
I've been thinking 'bout this thing here all week
One night could feel like four days
Meet me in the bedroom, lay there awake

I love Chiiild and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this beautiful song. Hope you all love ‘Awake’ as much as I do.
Yoni Ayal:
This originally started with the front half, and I was messing around with it, trying to find my footing. I had the chorus for a while and then linked up with Jay Warner in London, and we fleshed it out. I don’t just pull my heart out in a song and then just leave it—the editing process is such a big part. I really make a point of getting edited by ears that I trust. So, Jay helped make that chorus more potent. But I was seeking a woman’s perspective on this particular song. I happened to be on a call with Ari PenSmith, and I played him the song, and he was like, ‘I really think Mahalia would be a great collaborator for this.’ And this was, like, a week before the song is meant to be released.
