      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Wheel of Time's revolutions can be a bit creaky as it tries to stand out from other fantasy series, but it succeeds admirably in making Robert Jordan's epic approachable for the uninitiated.

Scott Bryan BBC.com What frustrates me is from the outset of The Wheel of Time is that it does that thing where it spends five minutes quickly explaining a world you dont know with terminology you have never heard or really understand. Rated: Not a Must Watch Apr 6, 2022 Full Review Rebecca Long Slate While the adaptation isn't a carbon copy of the books, it works well as a complement. Nov 30, 2021 Full Review Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald In the world of fantasy literature, Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time novels were once the biggest thing since The Lord of the Rings... This handsome and expensive-looking new television adaptation looks like doing them justice. Rated: 4/5 Nov 30, 2021 Full Review Nicolas Soto But Why Tho? A Geek Community The Wheel of Time season 1 makes a lackluster debut. An inconsistency in the pacing throughout the entire season made everything feel rushed and predictable. David P Well, a few things. First off I have read the books numerous times over the years and I am a pretty well read fantasy person. I like the books very much, although occasionally they are long-winded they are good. Let's leave it at that. I absolutely hated the TV "adaptation" not only because it butchered up the source material but it sucked, wasn't very interesting and was about as obvious of a meeeeee tooo vehicle as I have ever seen. Rotten Tomatoes must have some crazy accounting to give it such high audience scores when almost all of the reviews say it is garbage. 60% positive huh? Wow. Nice arithmetic - the studio must have spent a day padding the scores. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/03/24 Full Review Audience Member I just recently finished the books and I'm struggling to complete the first season of the show. I always enjoyed the idea of adapting books into shows to have the time to get the details right but there are so many things in this show that are off. Perrin being married off the rip, Rand and Egweene getting together, Thom Merrilan not being in the 2 rivers... I could make an endless list of differences that make this a hard watch. If you've never read the books, you might enjoy it though Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/02/24 Full Review Chris C Quality fantasy. Rosaline Pike is on point! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/12/24 Full Review Matthew S This is an excellent adventure series. On par but not quite GOT. This is a must see addition to your viewing! A+ and it is best watched in 4k HDR Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review Trenaway E When the show stays on pace with the story, it is great, the problem is, too much dry, small talk dialogue which does nothing to advance the story, or make me correlate with the characters! I wish they had spent more time with each of the characters and their development, which did not happen as much as I wanted, because of secondary characters dry dialogue! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Audience Member I am a fan of the books, I spent years hoping that an adaptation would happen. When it did, I could barely struggle through the first season. The characters felt flat, the changes to the story rarely seemed to help to improve it and often drew away from the actual story, a strange choice considering how much the books covered.
