Read these tips to help guide you through your first time on stage.1. DON'T RUN THE LIGHT!Generally, each open-mic performer gets 4 to 5 minutes of stage time. When you have 1 minute left, the host will signal you with a light (usually their cell phone light). This means you have 1 minute left. Best practice is to not "run the light" and go past that mark. It throws the pacing of the show-off and is just rude to other performers. When you see the light, acknowledge it with a thumbs up or a nod.2. Know Your MaterialKnow what you will do before you go on stage. Sure, all these pros look like they are just ranting, and some are, but they have many years of experience and generally get on stage with a basic idea of where they are going. Practice your material before you get on stage. Bring notes. Just know what you will do.3. Watch the ShowWatching comedy is just as important as doing it. You get to see how comedians carry themselves on stage and what crowds like and don't like. Applaud. Listen. And don't talk.4. Don’t insult the crowdThere is a difference between crowd work and just being an ass. If you insult the crowd by going over the line, you will be warned. If it continues, you may not be allowed back. We have to answer to venue managers and owners. If it takes away their business it does not look well for us.5. Move the Mic StandMoving it 2-3 feet out of the way makes you look better and removes a distraction. If you choose to leave the mic in the stand, go for it.6. Hold the Mic CorrectlyDon't cup your hand around the mic top. You are not in the Wu-Tang, so no need for that. We want the crowd to hear you clearly, and also, when you cup the mic, it makes trouble for the sound guy.7. Record YourselfSet your phone on the stool and record your set. Listen. Edit. Repeat. It is the best way to determine what works and what doesn't. You don’t need a video crew. Just listen to your set.8. Don't Steal or Do Street JokesDon't steal from comedians. His voice inflection and passion keep people in the room not knowing what absurd humor is going to come out of his mouth.Whether it's well-crafted and precise jokes or completely improvised streams of consciousness, Daryl makes friends and fans out of all audiences.Ages 21+Adult subject matterWildcat Brothers Distilling is Cajun-country’s first distiller of crafted rum, perfecting the distilling traditions of spirit-making the way our ancestors did. Located in fertile Lafayette, Louisiana, we use only local sugarcane to produce smooth and unique French-style rums from the same sugarcane cultivated by our forefathers. All of our rums are produced by hand in small batches with no importation of foreign molasses or sugarcane byproducts. We source from Louisiana farmers and American craftspeople. We work hard and celebrate harder, again, much like our ancestors did. While our fans keep returning for our innovative flavorings and wood-aging processes, our goal is to refashion the way adults appreciate rum, agriculture, and craft distilling. The story of Wildcat Brothers Distilling may be the most unorthodox tale this side of the Bayou. Set in fertile South Louisiana (“Cajun Country” as we like to call it), our story features two unlikely heroes: a former lawyer and Ph.D. behavioral scientist. Together, they embarked on a journey to help their fellow Acadians celebrate the joie de vivre with the very best French style rum. The result was Acadiana’s first distillery. Merging old-world recipes and modern techniques, our flavors harken back to the way the original Acadians would have crafted rum – with their own hands and local ingredients.Gator Cove - Lafayette, Louisiana2601 SE Evangeline ThruwayLafayette, LA 70508(337) 703-3410 - Tasting Room Direct Line

No refunds will be given.* No Flash Photography permitted* No video or audio Recording: Each comedian owns the rights to their own material, however, do NOT.* Do Not Heckle the Comedian: Heckling is interrupting the performance to upstage, disparage, or throw off the comedian. It is never acceptable, and the quickest way to ruin the show for everyone. It is also the quickest way to ejection.* Do Not Interrupt the Comedian: The common excuse for this is “I’m helping the comedian” and “that’s what you’re supposed to do at Comedy Clubs!” Comedians are professionals, they do not need help. Exception: If a comedian directly engages you in conversation, it is ok to respond. Some of the best comedy happens this way and can make for a memorable experience. Be ready to let it go when the bit is over.I don’t recognize the comic’s name, will the show be funny?Yes, all of our acts are professional nationally touring comedians. There are so many talented comedians today; it is impossible for all of them to become household names. That being said, comedy is subjective and we recommend you research the comedian you are coming to see.Unless otherwise stated, please consider all of our shows as “adult subject matter.”No refunds unless the show is canceled or rescheduled.Lafayette Comedy produces stand-up comedy shows around the Acadiana area, featuring local, regional, and national comedians. Lafayette Comedy also produces weekly open-mics, monthly showcases, and special comedy shows.

  • YEAH, COMEDY! A Standup Comedy Open Mic
  • Lafayette Comedy presents YEAH, COMEDY! A Standup Comedy Open Mic.Legends Pub is located at 104 Republic Ave., next to The Grand Theater on Kaliste Saloom Rd.This is a free show. No ticket is needed. Just show up.Comedians who wish to perform should sign up with the hosts by 7:45 p.m.Drinks & food options are available!Free parkingSo you want to be a comedian? There is no cover band in comedy. Do original material. Don't do bits you found online. Avoid any jokes your Uncle Larry told you. If you can find it online, don't do it.9. Have Fun!Questions?
