Olympic 400m hurdles champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will open her 2024 season this weekend at the 64th Annual Mt. SAC Relays 2024, but she will not be racing in her specialty.

McLaughlin-Levrone, who ran sparingly during the 2023 campaign, will team up with fellow Americans Keni Harrison, Jenna Prandini, and Morolake Akinosun on the Formula Kersee quartet that will race against a stacked field on Saturday.

The team will race from heat two, and this section will also feature a strong Team International quartet—featuring Dina Asher-Smith, Rhasidat Adeleke, Lanae Tava-Thomas, and world indoor 60m champion Julien Alfred—which will start as the favorite team to win the event.

The heat will also include the Ivory Coast, California, Oregon, USC, Stanford, and BYU.

McLaughlin-Levrone, the Tokyo Olympic champion and 2022 World Athletics Championships gold medalist in the women’s 400m hurdles, last competed at the USATF Championships last July, when she clocked a personal best of 48.74 seconds to win the open 400m dash.

The 24-year-old owns the 400m hurdles record with a blistering time of 50.68 seconds.
