I posted to another thread about the work of Jan Garbarek & The Hilliard Ensemble, and it got me thinking; I cannot think of many other recordings or artists that combine such diverse music genres, in this case Gregorian Chant and improvised Jazz. So I wondered if there are many other examples of this type of combination of different genres in a single recording. I am sure there must be others out there

Jeff Buckley’s Grace is pretty all over the place. A traditional carol by Benjamin Britten is followed by hard rock.

    John Martyn.

He melded Folk, Jazz, Blues, Reggae and even Hip-Hop into something entirely wonderful.

Yo Yo Ma - Goat Rodeo

It’s a really nice record combining classical and bluegrass.

    ELP - Brail Salad Surgery

Jerusalem - William Blake poem from about 1804, set to music (very hymn like) in 1916 buy composer, Hurbert Perry. Used in many movies, TV, covered by other bands.
Toccata - a very good, truncated version of Argentinian composer, Alberto Ginastera's 1st Piano Concerto (1961)). Ginastera liked Emo's version quite a bit.
Still... You Turn Me On - Very good rock ballad.
Benny the Bouncer - Honky Tonk, ragtime song. Emo certainly could play his ass off when it came to ragtime piano!
    Karn Evil 9: 1st Impression—Part 1, Part 2, Karn Evil 9: 2nd Impression, Evil 9: 3rd Impression - Killer prog.

I know it’s sacrilegious, but I even prefer Sandinista! to London Calling.

Please clarify is your thread about a single recording meaning (a song) or a whole album with different genres of music.
